An idyllic forest pond, Norafjärden, and several activities related to farming and animals shape what there is to discover in Nordvik. You can explore the landscape and water, guided activities, and the restaurant and greenhouse as different sides of the area. When planning your trip, it helps to distinguish between nature experiences, seasonal activities, and booking requirements: at Hamptjärnen, consider trail conditions and the state of the barbecue area, while horse-riding and dog activities have specific booking conditions. This makes it easier to decide in advance what you would like to plan in more detail.
Forest Pond, Norafjärden and Hikes
At Hamptjärnen in Nordvik, there is an idyllic forest pond with a barbecue area. On the way back from there, you can enjoy a view over Norafjärden. Check the condition of the barbecue area before your visit and the trail conditions before setting out.
Guided canoe tours on Norafjärden offer an activity on the water. Hikes to one of Erik Daniels’ cabins are also offered from Nordvik. The difference is clear: the canoe tour focuses on the water, while the cabin is the destination on the hike.
Farming and Food
Since 1868, Nordvikskolan has provided agricultural education at the same location. The Natural Resource Use Programme at Nordvik covers horse care, horticulture, animal care, and agriculture. This combination of a long history and four areas of study gives travellers interested in farming a concrete insight into the local educational offerings.
At Restaurant Nordvik, the chefs prepare dishes from scratch, using, among other things, produce from the Nordvik farm. Breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake, and dinner are also served to outside guests. As service hours may change, check the current hours before your visit.
During the summer growing season, individual planting tables can be rented in the greenhouse. Planning depends on the season: check in advance whether the growing season coincides with your travel dates and whether a table is available. This lets you include the offering in your trip planning with care, rather than treating it as an activity available year-round.
Horse-Riding and Dog Activities
There are two different booking options for horse-riding activities. You can book a riding session without exclusive use of the riding arena or indoor riding hall. For group riding, however, you can book the entire indoor riding hall or the large outdoor riding arena. The difference is the extent of use: one session without exclusive use, or one of the specified facilities for group riding. Availability and conditions may change; confirm them before making plans.
The dog hall and other rooms can be booked for dog activities. The dog hall is equipped for agility, working dog sports, Hoopers, Rally Obedience, and nosework training. If you have a particular type of training in mind, check the equipment and booking availability in advance. This helps you match your plans to the facilities available; equipment availability may change.
