Strandleden runs between Kvissleby and Njurundabommen; Dyket is a recreation area in Kvissleby. This gives you different options when planning your trip: a walking and cycling route, places to swim in the lake, and cultural heritage sites. Which of these shapes your stay depends on whether you want to spend time on the trail, by the water, or exploring historic sites and exhibitions.

Explore Strandleden

Strandleden is frequently used for walking and cycling. The path is wide and unobstructed, making it accessible to people who cannot hike in forest terrain. Trail conditions may change following maintenance or due to weather; check them before setting out if needed. There are benches, tables and a sturdy barbecue area along the route. The facilities may need maintenance, so it is worth checking their condition when you arrive.

The natural environment along Strandleden is another feature: biotopes have been mapped in the area, and several key or indicator species have been identified.

Historic trails and archaeological sites

The ruins of Kvissle Chapel are a destination along Fornstigen. They stand on a moraine ridge beside the old Norrstigen. Parts of this historic trail run through the eastern part of the area of national interest and alongside several burial grounds and the chapel ruins. Fornstigen and Norrstigen refer to different routes: the chapel ruins are on the Fornstigen route and also beside the old Norrstigen.

Nolby högar is a prehistoric site with one of Sweden’s largest burial mounds. Burestenen is considered the best-preserved runestone in the county. Each site offers its own cultural history, while the chapel ruins share their setting with the historic trails.

Exhibitions and visitor services in Svartvik

The industrial heritage sites in Svartvik can be reached by bus route 120 or via walking and cycling paths from central Sundsvall or Njurunda. Check the bus timetable before travelling. At Stallet, visitors can see historical exhibitions. Café Svartvik is a visitor centre with tourist information, a shop and guided tours.

Another cultural activity is available at the bowling alley in Engelska parken, near Svartviks herrgĂĄrd: visitors can try their hand at skittles. Free play is offered in summer. This seasonal information applies to this activity; if you plan to visit outside the summer, do not count on free play.

Swimming, skiing and a short loop

Dyket offers swimming in the lake, a large and a small bathing jetty, a designated swimming area for small children, and a bathing platform for older children. Swimming facilities may change, so check their current status before your visit.

At Nolbybacken, there is ski rental and ski servicing, as well as barbecue areas and a café with a wide selection of food and coffee. Competitions are held there, ranging from small events for the youngest skiers to competitions for international elite athletes. If you want to attend a particular competition, check the dates in advance. Operating details may change.

A 1.1-kilometre, especially child-friendly route runs around Fiskdammen. In summer, it can be used for walking or running. Trail conditions may vary by season. The options are therefore clearly distinct: the Fiskdammen loop is described as a short summer activity, while Strandleden is a frequently used walking and cycling route between Kvissleby and Njurundabommen.
