A striking landscape feature near Vormsele is Vormforsen, where the water drops 9 metres over a distance of 500 metres. The Vormsele FVO area also includes the long rapids of Vormforsen and Linaforsen. In the section of the Vindelälven managed by Vormsele FVO, several rapids offer fishing for trout, grayling and salmon; at Abborrtjärn, lake fishing for trout and char is possible. Before fishing, check the applicable rules, permit requirements and seasonal restrictions.

Trails, Swimming Spots and Rest Areas

The easiest access to Vormforsen is from Route 363 between Rusksele and Vormsele; there are two access points in total. At SÖ Grillplats by Vormforsen, an accessible path with a ramp leads from the car park to a platform with a wind shelter, tables and a built-in barbecue. Nearby, by Linaforsen between Björksele and Vormsele, there is also a wind shelter and a barbecue by the flowing water. Lycksele Municipality lists Vormsele among its outdoor swimming areas and bathing spots; check the current conditions at your chosen location before swimming.

When planning your route, note the restriction at Sagostigen: the trail by Vormforsen can be difficult for small children and is not accessible with a pushchair or wheelchair. Nearby, a walking path along a mountainside also forms a loop up the mountain, just over 1.5 kilometres long. These details describe different walking options, so your plans should take into account both your preferred route and accessibility.

Nature Around Vormsele

Another natural feature is the old pine forest on BlĂĄviksberget. It is home to beetles associated with recently dead pine wood, including Tallbarksvartbagge, Cholodkovsky's bark beetle and Tallstumpbagge. This connection to the wood also makes the forests interesting to travellers who want to explore the area's distinctive habitats as well as its river landscapes and fishing opportunities.

Building History and Village Life

Vormsele Hembygdsgård was formerly the Vormsele school, built in 1901. A special exhibition hall was also built on the grounds of Hembygdsgård. Vormsele byamuseum is housed in a barn built in Svartliden in 1870 and relocated in 1974. A building for old objects was built beside the museum in 1981–1982. The buildings' histories differ both in their original functions and in the changes they underwent later.

The historic site at Vormsele also includes a settler's hut built on Haraberget and relocated in 1975, and a village smithy relocated from Grundtjärn in 1976 and fitted out as a smithy. A drying barn relocated from Björksele in 1977 was used to dry grain. Their places of origin, construction dates and uses give each building its own historical significance and add to the story of the former school and the museum.
