Bromma offers a range of things to focus on: walks by lakes and in nature reserves, trails along the shoreline, and cultural and architectural history. If you’re looking for a holiday rental for your stay, you can start by considering which of these themes you want to shape your trip. The places below offer specific points of interest and help you sort out what you’d like to explore.

Nature trails and waterfront

In the Judarskogen Nature Reserve, you can walk along trails around Lake Judarn. Kyrksjölöten has easily accessible paths for walks and exercise. Its wet woodland around Kyrksjön is home to birds, frogs, insects and wood-decay fungi; part of Kyrksjölöten is protected as a Natura 2000 site. There are different ways to enjoy nature here: a walk by Lake Judarn or trails in a nature reserve whose wet woodland provides habitat for several groups of animals and fungi.

In southeast Bromma, the Ålstensskogen-Storskogen Nature Reserve was established in 2026. Covering about 67.7 hectares, it adds another nature reserve to the destination’s nature-focused offerings.

The Bromma Strandpromenad follows the shoreline from Alvik to Ă…lsten and was fully completed in spring 2023. Differences in elevation were levelled out and walking surfaces smoothed, making the promenade more accessible to people with physical disabilities. Its route along the shoreline offers a different experience from a walk around Lake Judarn: here, the stretch from Alvik to Ă…lsten is the defining feature.

Ängbybadet beach has two sandy beaches and large grassy areas. Sand and spacious green areas are among the place’s defining features. If you’re weighing up different nature and waterfront options when planning your trip, this offers a different focus from woodland trails or the Bromma Strandpromenad.

Cultural history and architecture

The round church of Bromma kyrka was built in 1168. On a guided tour, you can explore the church’s more than 850-year history and medieval wall paintings from the workshop of Albertus Pictor. Tour dates vary by season, so check them again before planning your visit. This makes it easy to include a church visit as a cultural highlight while leaving the specific dates open as you plan your trip.

Södra Ängby was built in the 1930s in the Functionalist style. The area has significant cultural and historical value and is of national cultural heritage interest. Architecture enthusiasts can discover a different side of Bromma’s history here than at the medieval church: the focus is on an area built in a particular era and architectural style.

Åkeshov’s arboretum also brings together nature and orientation. Every tree has a nameplate, giving the park an educational role. The signs themselves are part of what makes the place worth visiting: you can view the trees not only as part of the park, but also as a labelled and curated collection.

A walking tour of Bromma takes in, among other things, old historic monuments. It offers a place-based way to explore the area’s history, while individual buildings and neighbourhoods, such as Bromma kyrka and Södra Ängby, each have their own historical focus.

Bromma Stockholm Airport, Stockholm’s city airport, offers another cultural and historical perspective. Five of its buildings have exceptionally high cultural and historical value, meeting the requirements for listed buildings under Sweden’s Cultural Heritage Act. This adds the heritage value of airport buildings to the area’s church and architectural history.
