The stone Rimbo Church combines a construction history dating back to the 15th century with a form that has remained unchanged to this day. Culture, nature and a variety of trails also offer possible focal points for a stay. When choosing your travel dates and holiday rental, it is worth deciding on your main interest first: Marknad, birdwatching and a winter ski trail each have different seasonal considerations.

Church architecture and historic trails

Today’s stone Rimbo Church was built in the second half of the 15th century and has not changed its form since. The church interior, sacristy, porch and vaults were built as an integrated complex. For those interested in architectural history, the focus is therefore both on the age of the building and its integrated design. Another historical topic is the Sjuhundraleden: The route passed through Rimbo and was a Viking route from Norrtäljeviken to Uppsala. These topics offer different perspectives—the building history of a single complex and the wider regional history of a route.

Culture, nature and trails

Rimbo Kulturscen is a cultural centre for the performing arts. People of all ages can experience and practise these arts there. The events programme varies; if you are travelling to Rimbo for a particular event, check its date in advance.

Kundbysjön is a specific destination for birdwatching: the lake lies about two kilometres southeast of central Rimbo, is a bird lake and an important resting place for migratory birds. Spring to autumn is the recommended time to visit. Näset is one of Rimbo’s three larger existing natural areas. As development and access conditions may change, check for current information if you are planning a visit.

Cycling, hiking and horse riding are allowed and welcome on the Banvallarna. The improved sections Norrtälje–Rimbo and Rimbo–Rånäs follow the flat, wooded course of former railway embankments. The unimproved section from Rimbo to Hallstavik via Edsbro and Skebobruk is different: it is partly usable, and Norrtälje Municipality does not carry out inspections, maintenance or repairs there. Check the status of the specific section before setting out. At Västertorpsskogen, the illuminated running trail is groomed as a ski trail in winter when there is sufficient snow.

Water and the swimming pool

Sandbanken bathing area is in Rimbo on the north shore of Långsjön. It offers about 35 metres of south-facing shoreline and grassy areas, and is surrounded by deciduous woodland. Rimbo swimming pool has a large pool with 25-metre lanes, a separate play area, a waterslide and a toddler pool. There is also a warm teaching pool with a temperature of about 32–34 °C; it is used for swimming lessons, water aerobics and physiotherapy. The facilities therefore vary: from a large pool with lanes and a play area to a warm pool for lessons and other activities.

When to travel and planning

Rimbo Marknad is always held on the first Thursday in October; check the exact date before travelling. SL bus route 648 runs to a fixed timetable between Rimbo station and Rånäs; no booking is required for departures. As route arrangements may change, check the current timetable before planning your bus journey.

If you are looking for a holiday rental in Rimbo, it is best to choose your travel dates based on your main interest: Marknad takes place on a fixed date in October, spring to autumn is the recommended time to visit Kundbysjön, and the ski trail depends on sufficient snowfall.
