Hallstavik combines church history and local industrial history with a local heritage centre, horse riding and tennis, as well as a nearby nature reserve. The town therefore offers several different reasons to visit, without any one theme having to define your stay. The experiences also take different forms—from a historic building to lessons and walking trails.

Church and Industrial History

Hallstavik Church was consecrated in 1933 by Archbishop Erling Eidem. Its original design was created by Professor Ivar Tengbom; the church is located by the paper mill in Hallstavik. The consecration, design and location connect historical, architectural and local perspectives on the same building. Those interested in cultural history can therefore understand a single building through both its origins and its setting.

An intact industrial facility from around the turn of the century can be visited in Hallstavik. It offers a different cultural-historical focus from the church: here, the facility itself takes centre stage, rather than a single design or year of consecration.

Häverö-Edebo: Historic Buildings

The Häverö-Edebo local heritage centre comprises nine buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, relocated to present-day Hallstavik from various parts of the former parishes of Häverö and Edebo. Their origins in both former parishes give the ensemble a regional historical context; Hallstavik is its present-day location. The centre includes a former classroom from Ronöholm School, a forge, a flax-drying kiln, a threshing barn and other barns. The other barns are filled with objects from their respective periods. This brings school, crafts and agricultural work into focus as distinct themes.

Coffee, waffles and ice cream are sold at the centre; availability may vary by season.

Horse Riding, Tennis and Outdoor Swimming

The riding school run by Hallstaviks Ryttarförening welcomes children aged six and over to group riding lessons. Private lessons are available with or without your own horse, and special groups focus on show jumping and dressage. Group riding, private lessons and two specific disciplines are therefore distinct options.

Hallstaviks Tennisklubb has two lit outdoor clay courts. You can play there even on dark autumn evenings. Hallstavik outdoor swimming pool adds to the sporting options and is accessible to people with disabilities.

Nature Near Hallstavik

Häverö prästäng Nature Reserve is located near Hallstavik. Trails lead through wooded areas and pastures, inviting visitors to go for a walk. Several beaches and a rest area with a barbecue spot and benches add to the ways to spend time in the reserve. An accessible toilet with a changing table is located beside the car park. For travellers who want to include nature alongside historic buildings and sporting activities, the reserve offers a nearby alternative.
