In the centre of Katrineholm, Kulturhuset Ängeln is a place for literature, art and cultural experiences. Nearby, marked cycling routes, hiking trails and bathing spots offer other ways to shape your stay. The options vary in theme, length and facilities, making it possible to combine cultural activities with outdoor exercise or time by the water.

Cycling routes with different focuses

Katrineholm’s MTB Arena has seven marked mountain biking trails. They range from 1.5 to 39.5 kilometres in length, covering a broad range of distances. Spökbacken also has marked downhill and enduro cycling trails. These are distinct options for different types of cycling; the route information should not be taken as a measure of journey time or difficulty.

Vattentornet Nature Park also offers many paths, as well as walking and cycling routes. Katrineholm provides a cycling map to help with navigation in the town and countryside. Those interested in routes can choose between marked mountain biking trails, downhill and enduro trails, and paths for walks and cycling tours.

Hiking trails around Djulö and Krämbol

The Vandringsled Djulöområdet hiking trail is approximately seven kilometres long and passes through scenic surroundings around Djulö. Part of the route follows Djulö allé. Krämbolsleden is approximately five kilometres long and passes through varied terrain in the Krämbol recreation area. Both distances are approximate; together, they offer two ways to spend time outdoors on trails of different lengths.

At about three kilometres, Genneleden is shorter. It runs around Lillsjön via Genne and Krämbol without using the country road, and can be travelled on foot or with a pushchair. Katrineholm is approximately halfway along Djulöleden. At Stora Djulö, there is also a connecting trail to stage 27 of the Sörmlandsleden. These route details vary in length and course, so you can choose according to the route you want to take.

Bathing spots and facilities

Djulöbadet has several bathing jetties. Duveholmsbadet also has bathing jetties, as well as a diving board, toilets, a barbecue area, changing rooms, a basketball court and a playground. The two bathing spots therefore differ in the facilities listed. If you are planning time by the water, you can take these specific amenities into account when making your choice.

Culture, art and traces of history

Kulturhuset Ängeln in the town centre brings together literature, art and cultural experiences. Katrineholms konsthall hosts several public tours and activities in connection with its exhibitions. Broderiträdgården adds a garden with a different connection to art: it is inspired by the Baroque and shaped by the so-called “wallpaper group” and contemporary art.

Stora Djulö also offers a glimpse into history: the place, also known as “Västra Djula”, is mentioned as early as 1334. A connecting trail to stage 27 of the Sörmlandsleden leads from Stora Djulö in Katrineholm. A stay here brings together cultural options and named historical references with trails that vary in length and course.

Getting here and finding your way

Katrineholm is a hub for several railway lines. The Sörmlandsleden is just a short walk from the railway station. Katrineholm’s cycling map is available to help with navigation in the town and countryside. The tourist information office provides information about the destination and tips on suitable events and experiences. It also sells handicrafts and locally produced food products from local businesses.
