Röstånga is one of the two entrances to Söderåsen National Park. The village also offers the circular trail to the spring-fed lake Odensjön, walks in the Jällabjär nature reserve nearby, and cultural and historical sites such as Röstånga Church. The natural attractions differ in their landscapes and routes: you can consider a loop that starts and ends in Röstånga, or include routes with destinations farther afield.

Odensjön and Nackarpsdalen

The spring-fed lake Odensjön in Röstånga is surrounded by 30-metre-high rocky landslide slopes and has clear, cold water. The Odensjöpromenaden circular trail starts and ends in Röstånga and leads to the lake. This makes it possible to plan the outing as a loop whose start and finish are in the village.

Nackarpsdalen offers a different perspective on the landscape. Compared with the valley at Skäralid, Nackarpsdalen is rounder and flatter; open grassland and wooded slopes define the scenery. When choosing your outings, you can weigh the spring-fed lake with its rocky slopes against the open and wooded areas of Nackarpsdalen.

Hikes and different routes

The Jällabjär nature reserve is located near Röstånga. Hiking trails there lead to an old volcanic hill and through forest and bush-covered pastures. The Skåneleden SL3 Ås till ås reaches Jällabjär from Söderåsen National Park near Röstånga and continues to Anderstorps eneskog.

Another route is the “Vulkanvandring mitt i Skåne”: it runs for 27 kilometres from Röstånga to Frostavallen. Its first day’s section covers 4 kilometres from Röstånga to the Jällabjär campsite. When planning, it is important to distinguish the day’s section from the total route. The destinations also help with comparison: the Vulkanvandring leads to Frostavallen, while the SL3 continues via Jällabjär to Anderstorps eneskog.

Getting here and finding your way

Bus route 518 stops at both main entrances to Söderåsen National Park and at the Röstånga busstation stop. If you plan to use one of these stops, check the timetable before travelling: routes and schedules can change. This lets you include the available stops in your travel plans without assuming a particular frequency.

The tourist information centre in Röstånga has visitor brochures and rents out bicycles. Both can be useful for finding your way when planning outings; the tourist information centre offers printed information as well as bicycle rentals.

Church and local history

Röstånga Church offers a tangible link to the past. Its original nave is thought to have been built around 1200 or slightly earlier. The church also has a Romanesque sandstone baptismal font dating from the 12th century. The dates refer to different elements: the original nave and the baptismal font.

The village’s development as a tourist destination also has a historical milestone: the railway in Röstånga opened on 18 October 1892 and helped turn the village into a tourist destination.

Events at Röstångagården

Röstångagården can be used for parties, courses, conferences and weekend events. If you are considering holding an event there, confirm its availability directly before making your plans.

Considering Röstånga as a place to stay

If you are considering Röstånga as a place to stay, first distinguish between outings that start and end in the village and hikes with a different destination. The stops on route 518 at Röstånga busstation and the two park entrances can also be factored into your plans.
