East of the built-up area of Sjöbo lies the Oran recreation area. It has a total of 25 kilometres of marked mountain biking trails: one green, three blue and one red trail. The Sjöbo bus stop is one kilometre from the recreation area. The total distance and trail colours provide a clear picture of the cycling options as you plan your time in Sjöbo.
Trails in different formats
Möllers mosse has a 400-metre-long, floodlit running track with a crushed stone surface. The X-rundan is 1,700 metres long, floodlit along its entire length and paved. It offers quiz questions along the way. This gives you a choice between a short running track and a longer walk with questions.
Another 400-metre-long walking trail is located by Solvalla bygdegård. It is accessible to all age groups, as well as to people with mobility impairments and those using mobility aids. Signs along the nature trail at Solvalla provide information about different trees and shrubs. An information board also describes flowers and herbs that can be seen throughout the year. Here, the trail is paired with information about plant life.
Swimming and relaxation
Orebadet in the town of Sjöbo has a 50-metre outdoor pool; its seasonal opening schedule may vary. A lift to the large swimming pool is available for people with disabilities. Sjöbo swimming facility has a 25-metre pool and a relaxation area with a sauna and hot tub. The two facilities differ in pool length; at Orebadet, you should also take its seasonal opening schedule into account when planning your visit.
Art, crafts and the stage
Sjöbo Konsthall hosts exhibitions. It is located in the Kulturhuset at Gamla Torg 10 and is connected to the library. Next to the art gallery is a creative space open to everyone. This cultural venue brings exhibitions together with an open space for creative work.
Elfstrands krukmakeri is a working museum with an authentic, well-preserved craft environment. It is the first pottery workshop environment in Skåne to be listed for preservation; the museum is open in summer. Since 1939, the Flora cinema and theatre has hosted film screenings, theatre performances, concerts and lectures. Its facilities can also be used for live or recorded opera, theatre and sports events. The two venues offer different cultural experiences: preserved craftsmanship and a programme of stage events.
Markets throughout the year
The Sjöbo market has been held since it was established in 1864. The Sjöbo summer market takes place in the market square in the centre. The Mikaeli market keeps the tradition alive and remains a harvest market featuring food, crafts and handicrafts. The markets each have their own character: the summer market takes place in a central square, while the harvest market features regional produce and crafts.
Nature nearby
The Snogeholm recreation area is located in the wider region around Sjöbo. Its landscape includes lakes, sandy heaths, open pastures, wet alder carrs, open deciduous woodland and dark spruce forest. Ten marked hiking trails run through the area. One of them is a 1.5-kilometre, wheelchair-accessible lakeside promenade along Snogeholmssjön.
The Övedskloster nature reserve is also nearby. It has a bathing area and a barbecue area. An extensive network of paths runs through old oak and beech forests with ancient, particularly massive trees. Together, Snogeholm and Övedskloster offer further landscapes and walking experiences in the region, while Oran and the venues in the town of Sjöbo have their own options for exercise, culture and swimming.
