The Skåneleden routes SL2 and SL3 run parallel through the center of Höör and past the train station. This means you can start or end hikes in Höör. The routes vary in length: Brottets bana is about three kilometers long, while Pilgrimsleden is 16 kilometers.

Hiking Trails in Höör

Brottets bana runs between Höörs Mölla and Stanstorps stenbrott in Stenskogen. The trail, about three kilometers long, is rated easy to moderate. At selected points, you’ll find information boards with maps and details about the area’s history; a map brochure is also available in a mailbox at Höörs Mölla. Höörs Mölla is about 1.5 kilometers from the train station.

The 16-kilometer Pilgrimsleden begins at Frihetens kapell by Stiftsgården Åkersberg in Höör. This gives you two different options for planning: a shorter hiking route with a rating and a longer pilgrimage trail. In the built-up area, there is also Backaslingan: the illuminated fitness and running trail near Villa Backa is 750 meters long. To the north, it connects to the pedestrian and cycle path by Kvarnbäcks Bouleplätzen; to the south, it connects to Hälsans stig and the Skåneleden. There are two barbecue areas along the trail.

Building History and Culture

Höör Church was built in the second half of the 12th century by Mårten Stenmästare, using stone from Höörs stenskog. The apse, chancel and nave have survived from the medieval church. The original baptismal font bears the runic inscription “Martin mik giarde,” which is thought to be attributable to Mårten Stenmästare.

The history of Stenskogen also dates back to the 12th century, when sandstone was quarried there for building stones and millstones. The town’s history therefore brings together medieval church construction and the extraction of building materials. In central Höör, Kulturhuset Anders offers concerts, theater, dance, art exhibitions and cinema. Höörs konsthall, the art gallery in the same cultural center, holds around ten exhibitions a year. So alongside hiking opportunities, you’ll also find a variety of art and performing arts in the town center.

Nature Destinations Nearby

The recreational areas around Höör offer a variety of trails. Frostavallen is about five kilometers from Höör train station. The loop around Vaxsjön is just under three kilometers long, and its paved surface makes it suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. Wheelchair users may need assistance in some places. Nearby Orups strövområde also has five walking and hiking loops of varying lengths, mountain biking trails and hilly terrain.

Allarps bjär is a wooded basalt hill with carpets of wood anemones, yellow anemones and wild garlic that bloom in spring. The Skåneleden passes through the nature reserve. In the nearby Klintaskogen Nature Reserve, much of the area consists of mature, tall beech forest along Östra Ringsjön; a trail follows the former shoreline. On Västra Bosjöklosterhalvön, there is a marked hiking trail and a rest area with a fire pit on the lakeshore.

For a different kind of excursion in the area, Bosjökloster offers exhibitions, animal enclosures and gardens overlooking Ringsjön, as well as 900 years of history. Each destination offers something different, from paved paths and circular trails to nature reserves, lakeshores and cultural attractions. When planning your stay, you can choose between trails in town and excursions in the surrounding area.
