Recreation in the beech forest and local history connected to the railway built in 1875 give Tyringe two distinct sides. There are also art offerings and cultural venues. When planning your trip, consider whether to focus on walking and running trails, historical topics or changing exhibitions.

Trails and Sports

Sanatorieskogen has three recreation trails, open since 1987, for walking or running. They are 5, 7 and 10 kilometres long. The distances are easy to compare: the 5-kilometre route is the shortest, the 10-kilometre route the longest, and the 7-kilometre route falls in between. This gives you a concrete choice of distances when planning. Trail conditions may change; check them before setting out.

The Tyrs Hov arena is in a natural setting with several recreation trails that run through the beech forest of Sanatorieskogen and Bödkaredalen. The Tyrs Hov sports centre offers an ice rink with ample spectator seating, a sports hall, bowling, wrestling, as well as indoor football and athletics. This puts walking and running trails alongside a range of indoor facilities and sports.

Forest and Landscape

Radiumkällan lies southeast of Tyringe in a deciduous woodland area dominated by mature beech and oak trees. Its name recalls the former belief that radium promoted good health. This is a historical note about the origin of the name.

Near Tyringe is Stenberget, with beech forest, pronounced changes in elevation and views over Lake Finjasjön. Another local landscape landmark is the Torupasjön circular trail in Västra Torup, just outside Tyringe. It is 1.6 kilometres long and partially accessible.

Local History and Culture

Tyringe lies west of Hässleholm. With the construction of the railway line between Hässleholm and Helsingborg in 1875, Tyringe developed into a railway town. The Tyringe Museum presents the town’s history from the railway’s construction to the present day. It is also available digitally around the clock on a phone, computer or tablet. As website offerings may change, check the digital service before using it.

Tyringe Church has featured stained-glass windows by artist Hugo Gehlin since 1950. Sanatorieskogen also has a historical role: since the Tyringe sanatorium and bathhouse was built in 1896, the forest has been a cherished retreat for sanatorium guests and Tyringe residents. Perssons Café is associated with the writers Artur Lundkvist and Gordon Lindh, who once sat there.

Exhibitions and Artist Talks

The Tyringe Library art gallery presents a new exhibition every month in collaboration with the Tyringe Art Association. Once a year, works by members of the Tyringe Photography Club are also featured. Artists and dates vary for the monthly exhibitions; dates for the annual photography club exhibition may also change.

A report dated 3 March 2026 also describes a meeting with the exhibiting artists at Tyringe Art Gallery on the first Monday of every month. After an approximately 20-minute presentation, visitors can enjoy coffee and cake, view the art and talk with the artists. Check the specific dates before travelling.

The activities also differ in how you plan for them: with the recreation trails, you first choose between three distances, while for exhibitions and artist talks, the specific date matters. If a particular exhibition or meeting is the deciding factor for you, plan your stay around it and check the dates in advance.
