At the Järnvägens Museum, trains travel through period buildings from different eras on a large model railway. A simulator lets you compare a horse-drawn carriage ride with a ride on a steam train from around 1900 and an X2000 train. A visit to the museum brings together different chapters in railway history. A discovery bag containing various aids and supporting materials is also available to borrow during your visit.

The route there is also clearly described: it is just a few minutes’ walk from Ängelholm station to the museum entrance. From there, an accessible walkway leads into the forest. The museum grounds and the walkway offer two different starting points for incorporating the history of technology and nature into your exploration.

Art and city history

Ängelholm was founded in 1516 at the mouth of the Rönne å. The river is therefore part of the city’s founding history. Along the shopping street, the names of eleven well-known residents of Ängelholm are displayed on black diabase stones. You’ll come across these names in the heart of the city, while galleries and historic buildings offer further cultural perspectives.

Galleri Moment showcases contemporary Swedish and Nordic art. Exhibitions at Gamla Rådhuset cover art, photography, crafts, handicrafts, upcycling and other topics. Lectures, exhibitions, music rehearsals and other creative activities take place at the historic Kronohäktet in the city centre; the programme varies. If you want to plan your visit around a particular event, check the current programme.

Trails through forest and city

Kronoskogen offers several ways to explore the landscape on foot or by bike: it has marked walking trails ranging from 2.8 to 10 kilometres, as well as a designated mountain biking area. Ottos runda is a 10-kilometre circular route open year-round, through Kronoskogen and along the Rönne å. The route starts at Stortorget or the tourist office. The 16-kilometre Lergöksrundan, by contrast, is a cycle route by the sea that passes through Kronoskogen and the Ängelholm urban area. The two routes differ in length, type of trail and the route described.

The Nybroleden offers a different landscape: the trail runs along a river through a deciduous forest, with gnarled oaks and large beeches. Klitterhus has a long sandy beach and a large bathing jetty. There is also an accessible bathing ramp and a beach wheelchair available to borrow. Check the availability of these facilities before your visit.

Parks and activities

Hembygdsparken is home to five museums. Near the park, Upzone Ängelholm offers high ropes courses, ziplines, team challenges and outdoor escape games. For a different kind of activity, visit Ängelholm’s skatepark: its modern concrete area includes bowl and street sections with banks, ledges, rails, manual pads, stairs and quarters.

Pytteskogen is free to visit and open around the clock all year. The seasonal Pyttetåget runs during the summer half of the year between Ängelholm station, Stortorget and Hembygdsparken, and back. As the train only runs seasonally, check its current service before travelling. The annual Rönne-Å-Rännet canoe competition may also be useful when planning your trip: it includes 200-metre races, canoe polo and long-distance races from 2.5 to 20 kilometres, and is open to participants of all ages. Check the event dates when planning your visit.
