Between the lakes Teen and Toften lies Hasselfors, an old industrial town with origins in the 17th century. In addition to local history, hiking trails, moorland and activities on the water are among the things that can shape a stay. Hasselfors can thus be discovered from different perspectives: through its historic industrial and working environment, along trails in the surrounding area, or by way of Teen.

Industrial history and buildings

The well-preserved historic industrial and working environment can be explored. The Hasselfors Bruk Museum presents the activities of Hasselfors Bruk over almost 400 years. Alongside the town’s origins in the 17th century, this places the company’s long history at the centre of attention. Anyone interested in Hasselfors’ industrial history can consider these two time periods together: the founding of the old industrial town and the nearly four centuries of history of Hasselfors Bruk.

The churches also have different historical associations. Skagershults kyrka in Hasselfors was built in 1896 to plans by architect Ferdinand Boberg. The old Skagershults kyrka is located nearby. It was completed a few years after the parish was founded in 1647 and is mainly used during the summer months. The place name helps distinguish the church in Hasselfors from the older church in the surrounding area. If you plan to visit the old church, take its predominantly summer use into account and check visiting options in advance.

Another occasion tied to a specific date is Mopedens dag: this event takes place annually in Hasselfors. If you want to plan your trip around it, check the event dates for your intended stay.

Hiking trails, moorland and nature

There are several different starting points for hikes. Nearby, the marked Likvägen hiking trail follows a medieval route across Skagershultsmossen. Hiking trails run along Skagershultsmossen east of Hasselfors; there are also hiking opportunities at Stora Rankemossen, west of Lake Toften. If you are looking for a trail with a medieval connection, you will find one on Likvägen. The other options mentioned can be distinguished by their locations at Skagershultsmossen and Stora Rankemossen, respectively.

A marked trail leads from the car park to the western birdwatching tower at Skagershultsmossen. The tower’s first level is accessible via a ramp. Hasselfors is also home to Sweden’s northernmost naturally growing beech forest. Lillängen Nature Park has a lit jogging trail. Alongside hiking, visitors can therefore choose among birdwatching, a distinctive forest attraction and a jogging trail as different ways to enjoy nature and stay active.

Getting out on the water

Fishing is possible in Lake Teen, which has a good pike population. Hasselfors can be reached from Fagersand via a lakeside trail or by water. These are two different ways to travel from Fagersand to the town; fishing in Teen is a separate water-based activity. Depending on whether fishing or travelling between the two places is your priority, you can focus your plans differently.
