The Tabergsåleden follows the Tabergsån through varied natural surroundings and past remnants of early industrial history. In Månsarp, you’ll also find the church dating from 1853, a cemetery with medieval origins, and the garden in Pärlängen with the “Livets pärlor.” The trails offer different landmarks; the historic sites reflect different periods. This makes it possible to plan your stay around nature, local history, or a specific trail destination.
Two trails with different landmarks
The Tabergsåleden runs between Månsarp station and the southern part of Munksjön. Following the Tabergsån, it passes through varied natural surroundings: lush greenery, rippling water, and winding paths define its character. The trail also passes remnants of early industrial history. These stated endpoints help with route planning; the river and landscape give an impression of what makes this route distinctive.
The Franciskusleden follows a different route: it leads from Månsarps kyrka through a residential area and down to Månsarpssjön. Its landmarks are therefore quite different: for the Tabergsåleden, they are the station, the southern part of Munksjön, and the Tabergsån; for the Franciskusleden, they are the church, the residential area, and Månsarpssjön. This comparison is useful when choosing a trail, as one description highlights the river and nature, while the other describes a route through the residential area to the lake.
The church, cemetery, and local history
Månsarps kyrka was built of rubble stone in the Empire style in 1853. If you would like to see inside, you can check at the door whether it can be opened; a visit may be possible. Visiting is therefore subject to this check.
Månsarps ödekyrkogård preserves the remains of a church and cemetery with medieval origins. The cemetery wall, dating from 1797, is also preserved there. The site is not adapted for accessibility; take this into account when planning your visit. In contrast to the 19th-century church, the focus here is on the medieval origins and the surviving wall. Månsarp also has a rich history of ironworking. This forms a distinct focus of local history alongside the individual historic buildings.
Garden and barbecue area in Pärlängen
Pärlängen has a garden where visitors can experience “Livets pärlor,” also known as Frälsarkransen. There is also a barbecue area in Pärlängen. It can be reserved unless it is needed for parish activities; you must bring your own firewood. If you plan to use the barbecue area, be sure to take both this condition and the firewood requirement into account.
When looking for a hotel in Månsarp, the focus of your stay can be a helpful guide: would you rather explore trails along the river, learn about local history, or include the named attractions in Pärlängen? The different trails and historical points of interest offer specific themes to consider, without imposing a fixed itinerary.
