Daimús combines an open beach with Roman remains, architectural history and an extensive annual festival calendar. Playa de Daimús has a clear coastal focus: fine golden sand, dunes and Mediterranean vegetation define the beach. Facilities include access ramps, foot-washing stations, rest areas and sports facilities; lifeguard services are seasonal. If you are counting on using these services, you should take the time of year into account when planning your trip.
Beach and landscape
Los Pedregales beach is considered suitable for snorkelling. If this activity is a priority, you can take the beach into account when planning. Daimús’ landscape also includes different areas: the coastal lowland encompasses a former marshland; separate from this is the area where the village is located. This distinction helps you understand the coastal area and the village area as different landscapes.
Roman remains and architectural history
Hort del Comte is a preserved archaeological site from the Roman period in Daimús. The tomb of Baebia Quieta has also been preserved as a Roman relic. The two remains represent different forms of Roman heritage: an archaeological site and a tomb.
The Iglesia de San Pedro Apóstol dates from the 19th century and was built over an earlier temple dating from the 15th century. It was restored in 2010. The timeline therefore reaches further back than the church itself: the 15th-century temple preceded the construction of the church. The Casa Grande represents a different type of building: a manor house from the late 19th century.
At the Antiguo lavadero, traces of its former use for washing clothes have been preserved. The washhouse also marks the start of a series of irrigation channels connected to water emerging from underground. Here, everyday history and water management come together: washing clothes points to its former use, while the channels show its connection to irrigation.
Plan festivals and your journey
Daimús has an extensive annual festival calendar that brings together tradition, culture and entertainment. Moros i Cristians is one of the events; dates and programmes vary. In the Els Pedregals district, traditional patron-saint festivities in honour of Santiago Apóstol take place around 25 July. The exact programme varies here too. If a festival is part of your travel plans, it is worth checking the dates for your intended travel period.
Bus services connect Daimús with Gandía and neighbouring towns. From Gandía railway station, you can reach Daimús by taxi or local bus. Check the relevant connections and timetables before travelling to make sure your journey suits your travel dates.
