Twelve kilometres of coastline, 26 beaches and coves, and routes through nature and history give Vinaròs many facets. The coastline stretches between the Sénia River and the Aiguadoliva ravine. So planning a stay involves more than just choosing the sea: the seafront promenade, natural areas and architectural heritage offer different ways to shape your visit.

Sea, Trails and Landscape

The seafront promenade is ideal for family walks, bike rides and watching sunsets over the coast. The Qualitur awards for the Vinaròs coastline confirm high standards in environmental quality, service management and universal accessibility. On 18 June 2026, the municipality reported that these awards had been renewed.

If you would also like to include routes through the landscape in your stay, there are several options to choose from. Serra del Puig has been designated a municipal natural area since 2016. It includes the Iberian settlement of Puig de la Misericordia and the Redona de l’Ermita walking trail. Its views extend over Vinaròs and the Mediterranean as far as the plain between Montsià and Peñíscola. The Serra is also associated with hiking, educational and interpretive routes, and various active tourism activities for responsible leisure.

In the Sòl de Riu natural area, an interpretive trail passes information panels covering the Mediterranean, traditional irrigation systems, crops and the botanical species found there. The trails therefore have different focuses: views take centre stage on the Redona de l’Ermita, while Sòl de Riu focuses on the topics presented along the route.

History and Architecture

The Vinaròs Carnival has been celebrated since the 14th century; since 2007, it has held the status of a Festival of Tourist Interest of the Valencian Community. The Iglesia Fortaleza Arciprestal de la Asunción also has a striking historical connection: it is a national historic monument. Its exterior has a military character, and its design follows the style of a Mediterranean fortified church.

Casa Membrillera is an 18th-century Renaissance house. Its permanent exhibitions focus on agriculture, trade, industry and fishing in Vinaròs. The house thus connects architectural history with aspects of the town’s economic life. Casa Giner represents a different architectural period: built in 1914, this Valencian Modernisme building has an elliptical corner bay window facing Plaza Parroquial.

The religious buildings also reveal a range of architectural histories. Ermita de San Gregorio is an 18th-century Baroque hermitage. It was designed by Pere Gonell, a monk and architect from Vinaròs. La capilla de Santa Victoria is a Baroque chapel from the same century, attached to the church of the San Telmo monastery. It was restored in 2019, when 18th-century perspective trompe-l’œil paintings were discovered. The building and paintings therefore date from the same period, while the restoration took place much later. The Santuario de la Misericordia complex is classified as a locally significant cultural asset in the category of a local monument of interest.

Fishing and Planning Your Visit

Fishing can also be experienced in Vinaròs as part of guided activities. Gastronomic experiences may include taking part in a fish auction at the Lonja and the municipal market. Pescaturismo activities may include guided visits to the Lonja, fishing boats and the market. The two types of experience have different focuses: one centres on the auction in a gastronomic context, while the other offers insight into fishing locations and boats. Check the specific programme and provider availability before your trip.

The audio guide route may also appeal to groups with children and adults: its stories are adapted for both children and adults. This lets you choose activities that suit different interests, from the coast and landscape to architectural history and fishing, without needing to fit every topic into the same day.
