A 65-metre-long bridge dating from the 15th century and a necropolis with more than 70 excavated urn burials represent two distinct sides of Aldeacentenera. The town is one of the municipalities in the UNESCO Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Geopark. This offers several clearly distinct areas of focus for planning a trip: architecture, archaeological sites and landscapes.

Puente del Conde: 15th-century bridge

Puente del Conde is a cultural asset of special interest (Bien de Interés Cultural) in the Monument category, jointly owned by Aldeacentenera and Cabañas del Castillo. The bridge is 65 metres long and dates from the 15th century. Its age and protected status make this visit a clear focus for architectural history.

To reach Puente del Conde, take the asphalt track from the eastern edge of Aldeacentenera; this is followed by a 280-metre walk. Allow time for this section and check local conditions before setting out. Access therefore involves two stages: first the track, then the walk to the bridge.

La Coraja: settlement, dolmen and necropolis

Castro La Coraja is located on the Finca de la Coraja estate, about five kilometres from Aldeacentenera, and dates to around the 4th century BC. The site includes a fortified enclosure, and a group of dwellings was discovered inside. The La Coraja dolmen lies within a former Vetton settlement, and one of the dwellings uses it as part of a wall. This also helps explain the architectural connection between the dolmen and the settlement.

The La Coraja dolmen is a passage dolmen. Some of its orthostats—that is, upright stone slabs—bear symbolic engravings. A necropolis with more than 70 excavated urn burials is also located about 500 metres from the Castro. These sites represent different archaeological themes: the dolmen within the former settlement and the separate burial ground nearby.

A replica of the Celtic buildings of Castro La Coraja stands in the El Ejido natural complex. It was built for cultural, educational and tourism activities. This adds two different perspectives: the archaeological finds and their architectural representation in a replica. If you are interested in the history of settlements, this interpretive approach can be considered alongside information about the Castro, dolmen and necropolis.

Landscape and regional orientation

The northern part of the municipality has lagoons and steppes of great ornithological importance. This adds a focus on landscapes to the cultural and historical themes. If you are interested in landscapes and birdlife, you can include this part of the municipality as a separate aspect of your trip planning.

The Ruta de las Avutardas is associated with the towns of Aldea del Obispo (La), Aldeacentenera and Torrecillas de la Tiesa. If you plan to take the route, check the current local conditions. To reach the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Geopark, take exit 240 on the A-5 towards Aldeacentenera. Check road conditions and signage before setting out as well.

This makes it possible to take the different locations into account when choosing where to stay.
