Calafat can be explored through a range of interests: Cala Calafat and Cala CalafatĂł each have their own beach features, alongside water sports and motorsport. When planning your trip and accommodation, it therefore helps to consider which of these highlights you want to shape your stay. The details range from a specific way to access a cove to the measurements of a karting track.

Two coves and their features

Cala Calafat is located in the Puerto Deportivo de Calafat marina. The beach is characterised by crystal-clear water and golden sand. Cala Calafató is in the Calafat residential area, just north of l’Ametlla de Mar. Fine sand and turquoise water define the cove, which is surrounded by pine forests and cliffs. In 1996, Cala Calafató became the first cove in the area to receive a Blue Flag.

To reach Cala CalafatĂł, take the N-340 and the exit for Calafat. After the railway tunnel, follow the road for about 300 metres to an unstaffed car park; stairs lead down from there to the cove. In summer, the beach has showers, toilets, a lifeguard service and daily cleaning. As access arrangements may change, it is advisable to check how to get there before your visit.

Water activities and marina offerings

The rocky seabed and Posidonia seagrass meadows make Cala CalafatĂł a suitable spot for snorkelling and diving. Sea conditions and the availability of activities may vary. Kayakers can set off from Port Calafat beach along nearby routes; routes and operating conditions may also vary.

At the Calafat marina, Enjoy Calafat rents out boats that do not require a boating licence to use. Enjoy Calafat also offers sailing, excursions and fishing there. As the operator’s offerings may change, check the latest details before making your plans. To choose between the options, it helps to understand the difference: snorkelling and diving focus on the underwater landscape, while kayaking routes and marina offerings provide activities on the water.

Motorsport and karting

The operator describes Circuit Calafat Rallycross as Spain’s only permanent rallycross course. It combines gravel and asphalt tracks. The Circuito de Calafat RallyCross was built in accordance with the FIA’s specific regulations for this discipline. Check the course’s current operating status before planning a visit.

Karting Calafat has a 700-metre-long track with numerous bends, two chicanes and a width of 7 to 10 metres. This gives you different motorsport options to choose from: rallycross on a mixed surface and karting with a specified track length and width. These measurements describe the karting track but do not indicate its opening hours or current availability.

Another option along the coast

The GR-92 coastal route from l’Ametlla to Almadrava is considered moderately difficult and suitable for families and adventurers. It is therefore a different kind of activity from the water-based offerings and motorsport attractions. When planning, you can first decide what you want your stay to focus on, then look for suitable accommodation in Calafat. For specific activities, it is worth checking the access and offering conditions mentioned for each one in advance.
