Ço de Brastet is a former fortified manor house dating from 1580; its windows and portal are Renaissance in style. Unha lies at the foot of Pui de Unha, southeast of and above the Unhòla, just before it joins the Garona. There is also a route through the village and the Vía Ferrata de Unha. If you are planning a stay, you can weigh up architectural history and outdoor activities.

Ço de Brastet: Date of Construction and Renaissance Style

The construction date of 1580 places Ço de Brastet in its historical context; the fortification describes its architectural character, while the Renaissance windows and portal identify specific design features. The view thus ranges from the type of house and its period of construction to details of its windows and entrance. For travellers interested in architectural history, this connection is a distinctive point of reference in Unha.

Unha by the Unhòla

The Museo dera Mòla de Unha is also defined by its location on the river: it is housed in a small building on the right bank of the Unhòla, set across the current. Alongside Ço de Brastet, it provides a second cultural point of reference, firmly situated beside the river. Together, the manor house and museum offer two different ways to connect Unha’s cultural history with its location by the Unhòla.

A Route through Salardú and Gessa

The Salardú–Unha–Gessa route leaves Salardú along the road up to Unha, then follows the GR211 through the village to the higher part of Gessa. Unha is therefore on a route that continues beyond it. Check trail conditions before setting out. For road directions: the road from Salardú leads to Bagergue; shortly after setting out, the road to Unha branches off to the left.

Via Ferrata: Different Sections

The beginner option on the Vía Ferrata de Unha starts in the village and uses the first section of the route. The approach is very short, and the option is suitable for families with children. The intermediate option covers the first and second sections and leads to the Mirador de los Buitres. The advanced option consists of three sections.

Its final section is 350 metres long, making it the longest and most exposed. The options can therefore be distinguished by their length and the features described: from the short approach of the beginner option, through the destination of Mirador de los Buitres, to the long final section of the advanced route. Check current availability with the provider before planning your visit.

Festivals Throughout the Year

Unha celebrates its main festival on 16 September in honour of Saint Sebastian. The patronal festival in honour of Saint Eulalia takes place on 10 December. If you are travelling specifically for a festival, check the current annual programme in advance.
