Passeig Montseny forms Gualba’s central axis: its first section, lined with plane trees, leads to the town centre, which the avenue crosses for approximately 600 metres. The landscape also includes the Riera de Gualba, with its remarkable waterfalls. The townscape, history and nature offer different ways to shape your stay.
Town Centre and Water Landscape
The waterfalls on the Riera include Gorg Negre and Salt de Gualba. When exploring Gualba, you can treat the Riera as a landscape destination in its own right, distinct from the historic buildings in the town centre. The Itinerari de patrimoni i entorn is a walk on the outskirts of Gualba, with the Riera and its promenade as central features.
Church and Historic Traces
Sant Vicenç de Gualba is the parish church in the town centre of Gualba de Dalt. Key features of the 11th-century building’s appearance have been preserved on its façade and in the apse area. The former chapel of Sant Cristòfol adds a later chapter to this history: it is documented from 1328 and was rebuilt in 1587. Together, the two buildings offer different points of reference for placing the town’s history in context.
Walks and Getting Around
The Camí Ral de Gualba offers another way to explore the surroundings on foot. Near the Torrent de Can Sivina, one section follows a broad walking trail to the town of Gualba. This section and the Itinerari de patrimoni i entorn offer different experiences: one is a walking trail leading to the town, while the other is a walk on the outskirts, centred on the Riera and its promenade. Check the route details locally before setting out.
For information and directions, visit the Masia Can Figueres Tourist and Nature Park Information Centre. It is open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 15:00. The municipality also provides a free app tailored to Gualba, in collaboration with Natura Local, for iPhone and Android. A regular bus service connects Gualba with Sant Celoni within the municipality; check the timetable before travelling.
Festivals and Traditions
The Fira de Gualba, Vall de Fetilleres, is an established summer festival. The twelfth edition, scheduled for 1 August 2026, was set to feature a craft market, street performances, live music, theatre, workshops and family activities. The Fira de Bruixes de Gualba has a different event profile: at an edition in September 2022, stalls selling crafts and esoteric and gastronomic products were set up along Passeig del Montseny and at Plaça Joan Ragué. The programme also included tarot, talks, exhibitions and the play “El retorn de les Bruixes”.
The traditional Sant Joan bonfire is also part of Gualba’s cultural life: it is lit in the evening after nightfall in the square. Unlike an event with a fixed date, no time for this event is specified. The summer festivals and the bonfire give the cultural programme different seasonal forms; for specific travel plans, the dates of the festivals are key.
