Alcolea del Pinar brings together a dwelling hewn by hand into the rock, art and the history of rural everyday life. Its attractions range from cultural sites and cycling circuits to motorsport and sports facilities.

Art, architecture and rural life

Casa de Piedra is a dwelling hewn by hand into the rock by Lino Bueno. Its origins connect the house directly with the rock; Casa de Piedra also received the Medalla al Mérito en el Trabajo from Alfonso XIII. Its construction and this award are two distinct aspects of its history, giving the site a clear cultural and historical profile.

The Galería-Museo Perdices is dedicated to the work of Antonio García Perdices, whose main artistic mediums are iron and sheet metal. The Jardín Imaginario offers a different perspective: it brings together Máximo Rojo’s concrete sculptures and presents a personal creation outside conventional art circles. The works differ both in their materials and in their artistic character.

The Casa Museo Máximo Rojo was established following a donation by the artist Máximo Rojo and Carmen Ciruelos. The Museo etnográfico de Alcolea del Pinar offers another perspective: it displays agricultural equipment, tools, documents and everyday objects associated with rural life in the comarca. The history of a donation and evidence of regional everyday life are thus presented side by side.

The Iglesia parroquial de Nuestra Señora del Rosario also helps orient visitors around the town. It is located in the upper part of Alcolea del Pinar and offers a good view of the surrounding area. Its location adds a tangible link to the town’s layout to the art and museum themes.

Routes and landscape features

From Alcolea del Pinar, you can ride several scenic circuits on local paths, including the well-known Ruta del Cid. The circuit format sets this option apart from a single route to a destination. The Camino de la Sierra climbs to privileged viewpoints.

An old brick kiln is also part of the setting of the RCGU-105 “Alcolea del Pinar, el paraje del Avellanar”: its interior is circular, and the opening for the fire is still visible. You can also get your Camino del Cid passport stamped at Alcolea del Pinar Town Hall. Check the town hall’s opening hours in advance if you plan to use this service.

Festivals, motorsport and sports facilities

San Antonio is Alcolea del Pinar’s annual patron saint festival. If you want to plan your trip around it, check the specific event date before making your plans. The Circuito de Autocross La Dehesa also offers different formats: the facility hosts training courses, practice sessions and official autocross competitions. Participants can use their own cars during supervised driving sessions. Check the dates and participation requirements if you are considering taking part in a specific event.

The municipal sports facilities include a fully equipped gym, modern padel courts, a futsal court and a frontón, as well as a swimming pool that opens in summer. Take its seasonal opening into account when planning your visit, and check the pool’s current opening hours before going.
