Playa Cala Sant Vicent is 320 metres long and 40 metres wide. The beach is known for its clean, calm waters. Cala Sant Vicent is easily accessible from Sant Joan and the nearby village of the same name. Check current route and road conditions before your visit.
A coast of contrasting scales
Nearby, Port de ses Caletes offers a different kind of coastline: a natural cove shaped by boulders and surrounded by mountains and cliffs. It is 60 metres long and 15 metres wide, with crystal-clear water. Compared with Playa Cala Sant Vicent, it is considerably shorter and narrower—the two coastal destinations therefore differ in size as well.
To reach the nearby cove of Port de ses Caletes, take the PM-811 from Sant Joan towards Sant Vicent; then follow a winding paved road to the beach. Check current road conditions before setting out.
Cave sanctuary and archaeological history
Cova des Culleram was a sanctuary dedicated to the Carthaginian goddess Tanit. Between the 5th and 2nd centuries BC, it served as a Punic place of worship. The limestone cave consists of two large chambers, divided into smaller spaces by curtains of stalactites. This site brings together a striking cave structure and a religious history dating back to the Punic period.
Cueva visitable Cuieram was inhabited as early as the Bronze Age and was later converted into a sanctuary by the Punic civilization. Several hundred intact terracotta figurines and 1,000 fragments of other pieces were found there. The sequence of early habitation followed by later sacred use gives the cave a distinctive historical perspective.
Cova des Culleram is open to the public in summer and for pre-arranged visits. Seasonal visitor information may change; check current options before travelling.
Church and historic complex
The church of Sant Vicent de sa Cala was built in the early 19th century to serve the faithful in the northeast of Ibiza. Its single nave has a barrel vault and six chapels. Its articulated architecture offers a different way to experience cultural heritage than the cave sanctuaries: here, the focus is on the church interior and its clear layout.
Several traditional farmhouses have been preserved in the historic complex of Sant Vicent de sa Cala. The church’s patron saint’s festival takes place on 5 April in honour of Saint Vincent Ferrer; the programme may vary. If you would like to plan your trip around the festival, check the latest programme information in advance.
Getting there from Sant Joan
From Sant Joan, follow the PM-811 towards Cala de Sant Vicent. As road conditions and access rules can change, check them before setting out.
There are two different dates to consider when planning your trip: Cova des Culleram is open in summer and for pre-arranged visits, while the church’s patron saint’s festival takes place on 5 April. If you would like one of these cultural attractions to be a highlight of your stay, check the latest visitor or programme information before finalising your travel plans.
