Jalšové can be explored via a marked hiking trail, wooded slopes and the Romanesque rotunda of the Church of the Holy Spirit (Kostol sv. Ducha). At the same time, the route details raise different planning questions: Trail 8147 is 3.1 km long, while the 2026 edition of JARNÝ POCHOD HP offered a 13 km route. The landscape, architectural history and events each offer a different way to experience the town.

Landscape and Location

Jalšové lies where the southern foothills of the Považský Inovec meet the Považská spur of the Danube Lowland. The wooded slopes in Jalšové consist of thermophilous oak-hornbeam stands. So, alongside its position between these named landscape regions, the area’s specific vegetation also helps characterize the surroundings. Visitors who take nature into account when choosing a place to stay can consider this landscape separately from the distance of any single trail.

Hiking and Comparing Routes

Marked hiking trail 8147 leads from Jalšové to Ovčia skala and is 3.1 km long. The 2026 edition of JARNÝ POCHOD HP was the 48th and offered a 13 km route from Hlohovec via Ovčia skala to Jalšové. The difference in length is only one aspect of the comparison: the marked trail starts in Jalšové and ends at Ovčia skala, while the event route started in Hlohovec and ended in Jalšové. So, in addition to length, the starting point, destination and type of route also differ.

The annual Jesenný pochod Hlohovec–Piešťany had a hiking route that started in Jalšové in its 2025 edition. The route of the 2026 edition of the Bike4you Hlohovec–Poniklec MTB Marathon passed through the town. For Jesenný pochod, its annual occurrence is a point of reference in its own right; the start in Jalšové described here applies to the 2025 edition. If planning to attend a later edition, check its date and route separately.

Church and Thermal Spring

Kostol sv. Ducha, the Church of the Holy Spirit, stands on a hill within the grounds of a former castle settlement. The church has a Romanesque rotunda and was built in the first half of the 13th century. A rotunda is a circular building; here, its form, medieval date and location within the castle settlement grounds bring together architectural and local history.

A thermal spring in Jalšové is called Teplá studňa and is also known as Čertové pece. Both names refer to the same spring. This adds a named local feature to the wooded slopes as another point of interest for nature lovers.

Geographical Orientation

Road II/507 passes through Jalšové and connects Piešťany with Hlohovec. This means the town can be considered in terms of both this road connection and its position where the landscape regions meet. Those considering Jalšové as an overnight destination can base their decision on their own priorities: hiking, Romanesque church architecture or the area’s natural features.
