Two travel interests come together in Kyselica: cycling connections along the supply canal and local history surrounding the Church of Saint Rosalia. The Báč–Kyselica section of the SacraVelo cycle route, built in 2020, is a particularly tangible example. The church also has memorial plaques, there is a Vitus Cross at the entrance to the village, and a cultural centre with a history of theatrical performances. When choosing a destination, you can consider whether you are more interested in the route connections or the historical traces of the village.

Cycling Routes and Ferry

The Vojka nad Dunajom–Kyselica ferry connects two parts of Kyselica’s cadastral area across the supply canal. It operates year-round at regular half-hourly intervals; check the current departures before travelling. The SacraVelo section runs from the ferry in Kyselica to the cycling centre in the centre of Báč. This gives the route clearly defined endpoints, while other routes can be identified by their riverbank or the villages they connect.

The international EuroVelo EC-6 (001) cycle route runs along the left-bank embankment of the supply canal for the Gabčíkovo hydroelectric power plant. The Danube Cycle Path 001a connects Čunovo with Gabčíkovo and runs along the right-bank embankment of the same canal. The two cycle routes can therefore be distinguished by which bank they follow; Čunovo and Gabčíkovo are also named as the endpoints of route 001a. The canal is used as a waterway of international importance.

Kyselica’s route network also includes Via Slovakia, a tourist route between Bratislava and Komárno, and the M05-15 Marian Pilgrimage Route between Báč and Jurová. These route references answer different questions: SacraVelo names the ferry and Báč as reference points; EuroVelo and the Danube Cycle Path differ by which bank they follow; Via Slovakia and M05-15 are identified by the places they connect. When choosing a route, you can use the ferry connection, the riverbank, or the place names as your guide.

Church, Memorials and Cultural Centre

The Church of Saint Rosalia in Kyselica is dedicated to Saint Rosalia of Palermo. Plaques at the church commemorate the community’s residents who fell in the First and Second World Wars. They refer to the years 1914–1918 and 1939–1945 and were installed in 1993. Another plaque, installed in 2005, commemorates the 800th anniversary of the first written mention of Kyselica. The plaques highlight different aspects of the village’s history: they commemorate both the fallen and its written record.

The Vitus Cross stands at the entrance to the village and was erected in the early 20th century. The cultural centre, built in 1938, also formerly served as a venue for the local amateur theatre. These details add two other aspects of local history to the memorial plaques: a cross at the entrance to the village and the cultural centre’s former use as a performance venue. In Kyselica, religious dedication, remembrance and cultural history sit side by side.
