The Bojnický cyklookruh passes through Pažiť, giving the village a clear connection to cycling: the regional circular route is 162 kilometres long and also runs through other municipalities in the Partizánske District. You can also get to know Pažiť through its waterways and local history. The church, historic buildings and nearby archaeological traces offer further points of interest during your stay.
Cycling and Summer Activities
The Bojnický cyklookruh is marked in blue and can be completed in its entirety in two days. Pažiť is one of the places the loop passes through. The route information was last updated in 2019; check the current markings and route conditions before setting off. This lets you include the cycling route in your plans without confusing the two-day estimate with the length of a stay in the village.
In the summer months, Pažiť and its surroundings offer opportunities for cycling, hiking, hunting and fishing. These activities add to the seasonal picture beyond the circular route. When deciding on the focus of your trip, you can therefore weigh up the cycling route against the other summer activities mentioned in the village and its surroundings.
Waterways and the Southern Landscape
The waterways have different connections to the village: the Nitra borders Pažiť directly, the Drahožica stream runs along the edge of the municipality, and the Pažický potok flows through the old part of the village. This distinction helps with orientation: the river boundary, the stream at the edge of the village and the waterway in the old part are separate landmarks.
The southern part of Pažiť consists of woodland belonging to the CHKO Ponitrie Protected Landscape Area. Together with the summer activities available in the village and its surroundings, this is another aspect to consider when planning the timing and focus of your trip.
Church and Local History
The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Dominic Savio was built in 1991 and consecrated on 23 November of the same year by Mons. Rudolf Baláž. Construction of the present-day church had initially begun in 1966 as a “House of Mourning,” because the system in place at the time did not approve the construction of a church. The start of the building project and its later consecration are therefore clearly connected in time.
Another historic building is the “MAŠINHAUS,” erected after 1868 on the estate’s manor farm. The spacious building was used to house agricultural machinery and wagons. The history of local administration also extends beyond Pažiť: Pažiť and Uherce were administered by castellans based at Sivý Kameň Castle.
Near Pažiť, at Hradisko, there are settlement traces from the Early Bronze Age and the Hallstatt period, a cremation burial ground of the Lusatian culture from the Late Bronze Age, and a Celtic-Dacian settlement. Pažiť is also the final resting place of the writer Rudolf Uhlár (1904–1934). These varied traces span the period from early settlements to more recent local history.
Getting There and Finding Accommodation
Pažiť lies close to the I/64 road, an east–west route with a connection to the D1 motorway. Check current driving conditions before your journey. When looking for a holiday apartment, the planned focus of your trip can help guide your search: the Bojnický cyklookruh, summer activities or local history.
