In Liptovská Teplicka, local history and landscape come together with various ways to spend time outdoors. Notable features include 419 preserved potato cellars, which are still used for storage, and the route to Kráľova hoľa, considered a moderately difficult high-mountain hike with a long, strenuous ascent. Advance planning is worthwhile for two visitor sites: visits to Teplická izba and the house of Mons. Štefan Náhalka can be arranged at least 24 hours in advance.

Architectural Heritage and Landscape in Liptovská Teplička

The Roman Catholic Church of Kostol sv. Jána Krstiteľa was built in the Baroque style and consecrated in 1759. The Zemiakové pivnice potato cellars have a very different form: they are dug vertically into the ground and are about 2.5 to 3 metres deep. There are 419 preserved cellars in Liptovská Teplička, and they are still used to store potatoes. Their number and traditional use make them a distinctive subject for anyone interested in rural architecture and everyday culture.

The barns in Stodolište are also among the village’s defining structures. The municipality uses the 117 barns for exhibitions during local events. The historic terraced fields, in turn, are considered characteristic features of the landscape in this mountainous region. Together, these examples show different forms of architectural and landscape heritage, though they do not serve the same purpose.

Museums and Local Memory

The Teplická izba Museum features an exhibition about the municipality’s traditional crafts, complemented by a photography exhibition. The house of Mons. Štefan Náhalka contains a memorial room dedicated to the municipality’s distinguished son and an exhibition on traditional rural domestic culture in Liptovská Teplička. Visits to both sites can be arranged at least 24 hours in advance by phone or in person at the Liptovská Teplička municipal office.

The Cesty predkov Museum was established in 2023, following renovations, in the former fire station. It covers emigration to Ukraine and Hungary. The Pod Kráľovou hoľou folklore celebrations are another part of the area’s history: they began in 1996 to mark the anniversary of the municipality’s first written mention.

The story of Americký kríž also tells of emigration and return. According to the oldest residents, people from Liptovská Teplička erected the cross in gratitude after returning safely from America. The story is therefore explicitly a local tradition.

Nature Trail, Mountain Hike and Ski Lifts

The Okolím Liptovskej Tepličky nature trail is 6 kilometres long and has nine stops. Its route description was last updated in 2022; check conditions before setting out. Another hiking option is the route to Kráľova hoľa, which starts and ends at the bus stop and car park in Liptovská Teplička. The hike is considered a moderately difficult high-mountain route, with a comparatively long and strenuous ascent. Conditions can affect the level of difficulty. While the nature trail’s length and number of stops provide clear points of reference, the described ascent is particularly important when planning the mountain hike.

SKI PARK Liptovská Teplička has three lifts, including a learner lift and a children’s lift. The car park is right next to the lifts. Operations are seasonal; check the latest operating information before visiting.
