Studnička, Turecký most, historic buildings and a fishing water offer different ways to explore Nová Ves Nad Žitavou. Local attractions range from pilgrimage and architecture to fishing and cycling. If you are looking for a holiday apartment for your stay, these differences can help you decide what to focus on during your trip.

Pilgrimage and the Drevenica Valley

The Studnička pilgrimage site lies in the western part of the municipality, between the Konopnice and Chrástočky fields. In the quiet Drevenica Valley, there is a stone altar with a statue. It has stood there since the time of the Marian apparition in Lourdes in 1858. The site also includes a Stations of the Cross built in 1993. The altar, statue and Stations of the Cross provide different religious points of reference, without requiring a set itinerary for a visit.

The pilgrimage days are held each year on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, on 22 August. The exact dates may vary from year to year. So if you would like to plan your trip around this celebration, check the date for your travel year.

Bridge, Manor Houses and Church

Near the Studnička pilgrimage site, Turecký most, dating from the 15th century, crosses the Drevenica stream. The bridge adds a structure from a different era to the religious features of the site. The Baroque manor house at the crossroads also plays a role in the history of the village: Count Jozef Berchtold had it built in the early 18th century. The Klobušický family manor house, by contrast, was built in the Neoclassical style in 1872 and was surrounded by a park. The two manor houses therefore differ both in style and in when they were built.

The Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle can also be dated: it was built in 1789 in the Baroque-Classical style. Its main altar is a masonry Neoclassical work from the first half of the 19th century. It bears a painting of Saint Thomas from the mid-19th century. Visitors interested in architectural history will find several clearly dated points of reference here, from the early 18th-century manor house to the church and its later altar furnishings.

Protected Area, Fishing and Cycling

Novoveský Park is designated as a protected area. A different focus, more directly tied to a specific leisure activity, is offered by the seven-hectare water reservoir near Nová Ves nad Žitavou: it is a fishing water. Its bed is slightly irregular and covered with silt deposits; the water is 100 to 200 centimetres deep. Fish species found there include carp, zander, grass carp, pike, catfish, crucian carp and bream. Before visiting, check the applicable fishing rules and permitted fishing areas.

For a cycling trip, the green-marked Route 5136 is relevant. It connects Slepčany, Malé Chyndice, Veľké Chyndice and Nová Ves nad Žitavou. In Slepčany, it begins at a junction with the red-marked long-distance cycling route 045, the Požitavská cyklomagistrála. The information names the connected places and the starting point, but gives no travel time or route length. Before setting off, check the signage and surface conditions.

The options are therefore clear: Studnička combines religious features with an annual pilgrimage, the buildings offer insight into different eras, and fishing and cycling each have their own conditions to check in advance.
