A tower with a triangular ground plan, a wine-growing tradition dating back almost eight hundred years, and Vinianske jazero lake with its leisure activities give Vinné several clearly distinct focal points. When planning your trip, you can first decide whether the castle, activities on the water or the history of wine-growing will be the main attraction. These themes offer different ways to shape your stay without requiring a fixed itinerary.

Viniansky hrad Castle: Building history and hiking trail

Viniansky hrad Castle dates from the second half of the 13th century. A tower with a triangular ground plan at the castle was built in the 1260s. The two dates emphasize different points: one places the castle in its historical context, while the other identifies a specific architectural detail. The triangular ground plan offers a tangible architectural feature for anyone interested in the history of the site.

From Vinné, you can reach the castle on foot via a blue-marked hiking trail. At the mountain saddle, it joins a yellow-marked trail leading to the castle. At the top, the ruins offer views of the Eastern Slovak Lowland. The visit thus combines the walk to the castle with views of the surrounding landscape.

Vinianske jazero lake: Swimming, water sports and boat rentals

Vinianske jazero lake covers 8 hectares and is up to 3.8 metres deep. It is designated for swimming, water sports and fishing. There is a pedal-boat and boat rental service at the lake. Around Táborisko, there are several motorboat rental services; sightseeing trips are also available. The figures for the area and maximum depth give a concrete sense of the lake’s size, while its leisure activities offer various reasons to spend time by the water.

A traditional event is also associated with the lake: Jánske ohne nad Šíravou has been held since 2013 and takes place at Vinianske jazero lake. One edition was held on 27 June 2026. This date refers to a specific past event, not to a future event date.

Wine-growing history and the Jatki

Vinné has a wine-growing and winemaking tradition dating back almost eight hundred years. The ZA VIŇANSKIMA JATKAMI wine trail takes visitors past dozens of wine-growing buildings set partly into the ground, known as Jatki. Thus, alongside the long history of wine-growing, the buildings themselves are also a focus: the trail passes by the architectural evidence of this tradition.

Cultural monuments and protected nature

The Church of St. Anna is located in the upper part of Vinné and is a national cultural monument. The ruins of the chapel below Senderov are a restored monument and offer one of the finest views of Zemplínska šírava and the surrounding landscape of southern Zemplín. The municipal museum and gallery in Vinné are open to the public, particularly for study, learning, education and aesthetic appreciation.

Since 1984, particularly valuable areas in the surroundings of Vinné have been protected in the Vinianska stráň and Viniansky hradný vrch nature reserves. The area around Vinné is home to rare drought-loving grassland, shrub and forest communities with significant relict vegetation; xerothermic and forest-steppe communities are also found on the southern slopes of the Vihorlatské vrchy.
