Delená voda lies on the border between the cadastral area of Novot and Poland. Two streams rise from a single spring there, belonging to the drainage basins of the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea, respectively. A drainage basin covers the area from which water flows toward a sea. Delená voda therefore offers a concrete geographical feature: two streams, one source and different sea drainage basins. For travelers interested in landscapes and waterways as well as culture, this natural feature provides a clear focus.

Hiking Trail and Watercourses

The Pilsko–Babia hora hiking trail runs through the cadastral area of Novot. It adds a different spatial scale to Delená voda: one is a specific spring, the other a route through the area. For your trip planning, these are two distinct ways to experience nature, which may carry different weight depending on your focus—geography or hiking.

Local History and Crafts

Local culture also offers several perspectives. The built-up area and cadastral area of Novot contain a total of 16 chapels, crosses and roadside shrines. The church “Kostol Narodenia Panny Márie” was built between 1942 and 1948 to a design by architect Milan Michal Harminc. The construction period and architect place the church in its historical context; the total number of other sacred sites broadens the picture beyond a single building.

Crafts add to these architectural connections. Embroidery featuring traditional patterns and colors is made in Novot. Historically, weavers in Novot processed flax fibers; Novot was one of the Upper Orava villages where this work contributed to people’s livelihoods. Embroidery and the earlier processing of flax thus offer two distinct textile perspectives on local history. Woodcarving is another cultural connection: a carved nativity scene was made by local carvers from Novot. Folk woodcarvings from the 19th century have been preserved from the former wooden sacred building in Novot.

Accommodation and Seasonal Activities

Agrokovex’s agro-pension in Novot combines accommodation with activities: it has an indoor riding arena, and sleigh rides are available there in winter. The riding arena is part of the accommodation; sleigh rides, by contrast, are a winter activity offered by the pension. If you are interested, ask the pension directly in advance about sleigh ride options. If you are interested in using the riding arena, check directly with the pension what use is possible during your stay.

The Novoť–Ujsoly border crossing into Poland is 2 km from Novot. If you plan to include it in your trip, check the current operating conditions before setting out, as they may change.
