Nevoľné lies at an elevation of 705 m in the Kremnické vrchy and is considered a mountain village. The surrounding terrain ranges from its lowest point, at 504 m in the valley of the Bieleho potoka, to 950 m on the slopes of Kremnický štít. Over a distance of about one kilometre, the elevation difference is 410 m. This means two perspectives are central to planning a trip: the elevation and the routes that pass through or start from Nevoľné. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can first decide whether hiking or cycling will be the main focus of your stay; the specific routes offer different ways to find your bearings.

Distinguish hiking destinations and routes

Marked hiking trails from Nevoľné lead to the Jastrabská skala natural monument and the Kremnický štós protected area. There is also a hiking route from Nevoľné to Ďurova skala. This rock formation lies near the village, consists of andesite cliffs and offers views of Dolná Ves and part of Kremnica. The destinations have different points of interest: Jastrabská skala is designated a natural monument, Kremnický štós a protected area, while the rocks and views are the main attractions at Ďurova skala.

The 23 km-long Kremnica–Trnavá Hora Magistrála passes through Nevoľné. Another tour, the hike from Nevoľné to the Jastrabá railway stop, takes approximately two to three hours. The figures describe different things: 23 km is the total length of the Magistrála, while the time estimate applies to the hike to Jastrabá. When planning your day, you can therefore distinguish between a route length and an approximate tour duration without treating the two routes as the same.

Getting around by bike or bus

The blue-marked POHRONSKO – KREMNICKÝ OKRUH cycle route passes through Nevoľné. The Pohronsko–Kremnický Okruh is suitable for road bikes, trekking bikes and mountain bikes. This gives you a specific basis for choosing a type of bicycle; check local route conditions before setting off. Buses connect Nevoľné with Kremnica. If you plan to use the bus, check the current timetable before departure.

The Prechod krajom SNP hike

The traditional Prechod krajom SNP hike takes place every year on the last Saturday in August. Buses take hikers from Nevoľné to Skalka, where two routes begin: one 15 km long and the other 20 km long. Since the date and schedule are specific to each edition of the event, confirm the details for the year you plan to attend.

Waterworks and church history

The first surviving written mention of Nevoľné is associated with the land register of 1487. The Nevoľnícky waterworks also offers a specific historical reference point: construction began on 21 May 1940, and water was flowing into the reservoir by the third day. The waterworks, dating from 1940, lie along the Kremnica–Trnavá Hora Magistrála.

The church in Nevoľné was consecrated on 13 September 1970. Its organ dates from 1973 and has 1,724 pipes. Along with the waterworks and the 1487 entry, these dates offer insight into different periods of the village’s history.
