In Zlatibor, marked trails with clearly stated distances meet the Gold Gondola and destinations focused on nature, culture and activities. When planning your stay, you can first decide which of these themes will shape your trip.

Choose hiking trails by distance

Three marked trails start at Kraljev trg: “Centar – Spomenik na Šumatnom brdu” is 2.3 kilometres long, and “Centar – Čuker (Čigota)” is 5 kilometres long. The “Centar – Vidikovac Gradina” trail leads to Gradina and is 5.3 kilometres long. All three distances are one way. Of these trails, the route to the monument on Šumatno brdo is the shortest; the other two, at 5 and 5.3 kilometres, are close in length. Plan your return journey separately. Conditions on the routes can change with the seasons; check them before your hike.

The developed trail network includes routes for different ability and fitness levels—from beginners and recreational athletes to active athletes and mountain hikers. This range provides an overview of the network as a whole. The three routes listed above can instead be compared initially by their starting points and one-way distances.

The gondola and nature destinations

The Gold Gondola connects the centre of Zlatibor with the Tornik ski centre. A one-way ride takes 25 minutes; there is an intermediate station at RibniÄŤko jezero. This means you can plan the gondola ride separately from the marked hiking routes: distances are given in kilometres for the trails, and the duration of a one-way trip is given for the gondola.

Zlatibor was declared a nature park in 2017. Stopića pećina cave also has special protected status: it is protected by the state as a natural monument and a protected natural asset of exceptional importance. The cave was prepared and opened for tourist visits in 2009. A footpath from the car park to the cave entrance was also built at that time. Check the current conditions before visiting.

Culture and regional cuisine in Sirogojno

The Staro Selo open-air museum is in the village of Sirogojno, 26 kilometres from the tourist centre of Zlatibor. It is Serbia’s only open-air museum. The exhibition features log houses from the Zlatibor region as evidence of its domestic culture in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Anyone interested in architectural and social history will find a close-up view of the region’s historical forms of housing here.

Sirogojno combines this cultural focus with regional cuisine: the village serves cheese, kajmak and other dishes typical of the Zlatibor area in a traditional setting. The International Sports Film Festival offers a different cultural focus. It takes place every year on the penultimate weekend of August at the Zlatibor Cultural Centre; the exact dates may vary. If the festival is the reason for your trip, check the dates for the relevant year.

Parks and activities

Dino Park covers 6 hectares in the heart of Zlatibor. It features 20 interactive dinosaur replicas from the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods, as well as 20 exhibits from the world of modern technology. Avantura Park is also in the heart of Zlatibor and covers 4 hectares of pine forest. Visitors can test their skills, imagination and agility across seven levels. The two parks therefore offer different focuses: dinosaurs and technology at one, and activities across multiple levels at the other.

The Zlatibor go-kart track is near the town centre, 300 metres uphill from the market, in a natural setting with pine forest. Check that it is currently operating before you travel. A paintball field is located one kilometre from the centre, next to the main road and near the hiking trail to the monument on Ĺ umatno brdo; you should also confirm its operating hours in advance.

Canyoning in Zlatibor includes exploring the Ribnica Canyon. Quad-bike routes include rides in the direction of Tornik; check the availability of tours and rentals in advance. Paragliding is another option for an adrenaline-filled experience with views of Zlatibor’s landscapes. Participation depends on providers and conditions.
