Novákfalva (Glimboca) offers several distinct reasons to visit: Baroque church architecture, religious events, the Via Transilvanica and Tunelul Iubirii on the railway line. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can first decide whether architecture and local memory, a festival date, activity on a long-distance route or photography should shape your stay. This lets you weigh the different highlights according to your own travel interests.

Church architecture, religious events and memorials

The Church of „Adormirea Maicii Domnului“ was built between 1790 and 1794 in the Baroque style, using stone and fired bricks. Its construction period, style and materials make it a specific point of interest for travellers interested in sacred architecture. The church building is a different reason to visit from the religious festivals held in the town.

The „Duminica Sfinților Români“ hermitage can be reached via the DN 68 on the road between Caransebeș and Hațeg; it is a further two kilometres from Glimboca. The Oastea Domnului celebration takes place every year on the third Sunday of Lent, known as Cross Sunday. A festival commemorating choreographers Afilon Lațcu and Ioan Muntean is held in Glimboca every year in October. There is also a monument, „Ostașului Necunoscut“, in front of the Glimboca cemetery, honouring the heroes who fell in battle.

The two events are tied to different times of year: the Oastea Domnului celebration is held on the third Sunday of Lent, while the festival takes place in October. If an event is a factor in your travel plans, check the specific date for your chosen year in advance.

The Via Transilvanica as a long-distance route

The Via Transilvanica is a 1,400-kilometre long-distance trail that crosses Romania diagonally from Putna to Drobeta Turnu Severin. In Caraș-Severin, it passes through a succession of more than 20 localities, including Glimboca. The route is intended for travel on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. Its scale can help you choose the kind of trip you want: the total length describes a long-distance route across Romania, while Glimboca is one of the localities along its stretch through Caraș-Severin. Those choosing the Via as their focus can also choose between walking, cycling and riding; the route is intended for all three.

Tunelul Iubirii and photography

Tunelul Iubirii is located on the railway line between Caransebeș and Băuțar. Visitors explore it; photographers and couples come here to take romantic photos. This makes it different from the Via Transilvanica when planning a trip: the tunnel is mainly about exploring and photography, while the Via is a long route intended for walking, cycling or riding. This gives you the choice between a photography-focused visit and a travel theme centred on activity.
