Discover Guzowy Piec from the perspective of three different routes: the Black Cycling Route passes through the village, as do a stage of the Way of St. James and the red route. For planning purposes, the routes differ in length, start and end points, and their designated form. Your choice therefore depends not only on the distance, but also on whether you have a loop, a stage, or a route with many intermediate places in mind.

The Black Cycling Route as a loop

The Black Cycling Route is 15.6 kilometers long. It starts in Biesal, passes through Tomaryny, Śródka, Guzowy Piec, Salminek, and Jadaminy, and returns to Biesal. The start and finish are therefore in the same place; Guzowy Piec is a named point along the route. The sequence of intermediate places provides concrete guidance: after Śródka, the route passes through Guzowy Piec and then continues to Salminek. Its designation as a cycling route and its comparatively shorter distance set it apart from the red route, which returns to Olsztyn. The routes also differ in what comes after Guzowy Piec: the Way of St. James stage continues to Parwółki, while the Black Cycling Route goes via Salminek and Jadaminy back to Biesal.

The red route with many intermediate places

The red route is 84.3 kilometers long and passes through Olsztyn, Gronity, Naterki, Sząbruk, Unieszewo, Makruty, Guzowy Młyn, Guzowy Piec, Parwółki, Stare Jabłonki, Kątno, Plichta, Dąg, Wynki, Worliny, Woryty, Gietrzwałd, Łajsy, Unieszewo Kolonia, Kudypy, Łupstych, and Gutkowo, before returning to Olsztyn. Guzowy Piec comes after Guzowy Młyn and before Parwółki; the village is part of a longer sequence, but is not a named endpoint. Compared with the Black Cycling Route, its stated total distance is more than five times as long. Both routes return to their stated starting points, but their lengths provide different benchmarks.

A stage of the Way of St. James

The fourth stage of the Way of St. James leads from Gietrzwałd via Łajsy, Pęglity, and Śródka through Guzowy Piec to Parwółki. Its description names a specific sequence of intermediate places and a stage endpoint. This distinguishes it from the two routes that return to their starting points. If you need to rely on current trail markers, check them on site before relying on the route.

A landmark in the village

On the edge of the forest, the “Osada Warmińska” conference center was established in the former school building. The village’s history thus encompasses both the building’s former use as a school and the center’s later establishment there. This named location adds a specific built landmark in Guzowy Piec to the route perspective.
