Discover Dywity via two signposted cycling routes of different lengths, Jezioro Dywickie and the history of the village. The blue route is 32 kilometres long, the yellow 20; both pass through several places and return to Dywity. There is also a path around the lake, a neo-Gothic church and a bridge with a history of construction and film.

Cycling routes in two lengths

The signposted blue cycling route is 32 kilometres long. From Dywity, it leads via Różnowo, Dąbrówka Wielka, Nowe Włóki, Gradki, Frączki, Tuławki, Gady, Lake Wadąg and Dągi, back to Dywity. The yellow route is also signposted, covers 20 kilometres and runs from Dywity via Redykajny, Wilimowo, Kajny, Barkweda, Brąswałd and Ługwałd, back to the starting point. Comparing the lengths makes it easy to choose according to the distance you want to cover: the yellow route is shorter than the blue one.

There is also a walking and cycling path around Jezioro Dywickie. This offers different ways to get active: longer routes through several places and a path that circles the lake. You can start planning which option suits your trip by considering the route and its length.

Jezioro Dywickie and its recreation area

The recreation area at Jezioro Dywickie includes a landscaped beach and a raised viewing platform clad in wood. The platform faces the lake. Together with the path around the water, the beach, viewpoint and circular route are specific places to visit for anyone planning to spend time by the lake. The lake is more than just a name on the longer cycling routes: one of the two routes explicitly passes Lake Wadąg, while the path at Jezioro Dywickie circles this lake.

Church, bridge and local history

The neo-Gothic Church of Saints Simon and Jude Thaddeus in Dywity is 40 metres long, 17 metres wide and 19 metres high. Eight granite pillars support seven sculptures of apostles. The organ is another striking feature: the eighteen-stop organ was built by the Bruno Goebel company of Orneta, and its sound can still be heard today.

The bridge over the Wadąg near Dywity connects local history with the history of transport. The first bridge was built in 1859 and destroyed after a short time. A new crossing was completed in 1862, and road traffic resumed. The bridge over the Wadąg at the entrance to the village also served as a filming location for a chase scene in the episode “Podwójny nelson” of the Polish television series “Stawka większa niż życie”.

Airship history and events

An educational and tourist trail about the Dywity airships begins at the access road from ul. Grzybowa. The historical context also includes an airship port that opened in 1914 in the vicinity of Dywity. The port was therefore near the village, not in Dywity itself.

The Święto Warmińskiego Piwowara festival hosts the final of the Warmiński Konkurs Piw Domowych. Every year, hobby brewers from across Poland submit several dozen beers brewed at home. Professional judges from the Polish Association of Home Brewers evaluate the entries. If you would like to plan your trip around this event, check the current programme in advance.
