Stare Brynki combines a long-distance hiking trail with specific landscape and historical sites. The red Nadodrzański Hiking Trail passes through the village; its history as a Cistercian village and the Church of Saint Faustina Kowalska add a distinct historical note. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing the trail’s full route from the sites in the village and its immediate surroundings.

Hiking Trails and Landscape

The red Nadodrzański Hiking Trail passes through Binowo, Chlebowo, Stare Brynki, Gryfino, Dolna Odra and Nowe Czarnowo. Within the Gryfino municipality, it covers 31.45 kilometres. The sequence of places shows the route’s long-distance scale; the mileage refers to its course within the municipality. Stare Brynki can be reached on foot or by bicycle via a red hiking trail. This access information applies to the village itself, while the total length of the Nadodrzański Trail describes a route through several places.

Before Stare Brynki, a section of the red hiking trail crosses open terrain; the Wietrzne GĂłry hills can be seen to the right of the route. North of Stare Brynki, a road runs through the forest along the Omulna stream to the Puszcza Bukowa forest and the ruins of a mill and a sawmill. Both facilities share their name with the stream. The road to the north offers a different landscape setting from the open terrain before the village: here, the forest and the Omulna stream shape the way to orient yourself in the immediate surroundings.

Village History and Church

Stare Brynki is a Cistercian village; the monks were granted rights here around 1240. At its centre stands the Church of Saint Faustina Kowalska. It was built towards the end of the 19th century on the site of an earlier church. The village’s history thus brings together two points separated by many centuries: the Cistercian context around 1240 and the construction of the church towards the end of the 19th century.

Nature in the Surroundings

Roe deer can be spotted and cranes heard in and around Stare Brynki; the surrounding area is also home to saffron milk caps and slippery jacks. The local nature can therefore be explored not only via hiking trails, but also through wildlife watching, birdsong and mushroom finds. These natural features complement the village’s landscape and historical sites, offering further ways to experience the surroundings.

Cultural Highlights in the Wider Gryfino Destination

The wider Gryfino destination offers additional cultural attractions in Gryfino. The historic layout of Gryfino can still be clearly recognised as a town founded in the 13th century. Kino Gryf is one of the smallest cinemas in Poland and the only cinema in Gryfino County; it screens film premieres and 3D films. Choral concerts and the Gryfińskie Concerts of Organ Music are held regularly at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gryfino. Thus, the wider destination brings together urban history, cinema and church music alongside the landscape and village history of Stare Brynki.
