In Gryfino, striking landmarks from the city’s history meet paths and places to relax by the water. The Late Romanesque-Gothic parish church, surviving sections of the city fortifications and the Nabrzeże Miejskie offer different points of interest to help plan your trip.

Architectural history and notable places

Construction of the parish church Kościół p.w. Narodzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny began in 1278. Its organs by Barnim Grüneberg are also noteworthy: they have 30 stops, two manuals and a pedal. Choral concerts and the regular Gryfińskie Koncerty Organowe take place in the church. If you would like to plan your trip around a concert, check the dates before you travel.

Another striking landmark is the Brama Bańska, the only one of Gryfino’s three city gates to have survived. It was built in the 14th century. One section of the Mury obronne is particularly well preserved: it is about 70 metres long and 4 metres high. These dimensions give you a sense of the scale of the fortifications, without limiting your view to the individual structures.

Other architectural highlights include the Pałacyk pod Lwami, a villa dating from the late 19th century. Two stone lions flank its entrance. The lapidarium in the municipal cemetery displays gravestones from a former German cemetery as well as from other cemeteries in the municipality. The church, city gate, fortifications, villa and lapidarium each represent a different aspect of local history.

Green spaces, the Oder riverside and cycling routes

Park Miejski im. Stanisławy Siarkiewicz is in the centre of Gryfino and covers 6.02 hectares. Górka Miłości offers a different view of the town and its surroundings, with vistas over Gryfino and Międzyodrze. Its revitalised network of paths includes a viewpoint, benches and other recreational facilities. The park and Górka Miłości thus complement the historic sights with green space and scenic views.

Nabrzeże Miejskie is Gryfino’s recreational and tourist waterfront on the right bank of the Oder Wschodnia. A cycle path runs along its entire length. If you are looking for a longer cycling route, the start of Blue Velo No. 3 is just a few dozen metres from the Centrum Informacji Turystycznej. The route continues south through the town towards Trzcińsko-Zdrój.

Hiking trails and activities by the water

The two hiking trails can also be distinguished by their routes and lengths. The red Nadodrzański hiking trail passes through Stare Brynki, Gryfino, Dolna Odra and Nowe Czarnowo; within the municipality, it covers 31.45 kilometres. The green Woja Żelisława trail runs through Żelisławiec, Wełtyń and Gryfino, covering 21.52 kilometres in the municipality. The red trail is therefore the longer of the two routes listed. The places along the way can also help you decide which route best suits your travel plans.

Aquapark Laguna adds a leisure and wellness facility to the town’s waterside attractions. Leisure facilities include a wave pool, an artificial wild-water river, massage pools, whirlpools, water slides and a children’s pool. Wellness facilities include a Tężnia, a dry sauna, an infrared sauna, a steam room, a massage room and a salt room. This lets you choose whether to explore the Oder riverside and cycling routes or spend time at the aquapark.

Gryfino offers several distinct ways to shape your stay: historic buildings and concerts, paths and viewpoints, or activities by the water. These interests can help you search for hotels in Gryfino without limiting your trip to just one way of exploring.
