Wieprz lies on the right bank of the Soła and combines its riverside setting with cultural history and a range of leisure activities. When planning a stay, you can choose from several themes: art in the church, archaeological heritage, nature and sports. Decide which of these you want to shape your trip.

River, trails and nature

Fishing on the mountain river Soła and cycling routes are among the leisure activities mentioned in Wieprz. They offer different ways to enjoy the area: by the river or on a bike. If you’re planning a cycling trip, check the latest route information; if you’re fishing, find out about the current regulations in advance.

A nature and walking route to Grojec is also part of the area’s plans. When the route was presented on September 6, 2024, it was still under development. The planned route was to run from Radziechowy-Wieprz railway station through Wieprz to the summit of Grojec. It was intended to pass through expansive fields and herb-rich meadows with wild vegetation around Grojec. One of the highest peat bogs in the Beskids lies nearby. Before using the route, check whether its completion has since been confirmed.

The Centre for Ecological Education in Wieprz features exhibitions about protected plants and animals, as well as vegetation along the banks of the Soła. Topics include fish, fishing and the fight against poaching. If you plan to visit the centre, check current visiting arrangements beforehand.

Church and cultural heritage

The Church of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary brings together two artistic features: between 1963 and 1966, Maria Antonina Kozłowska (1903–1994) and Zofia Szczerba (1920–2001) created sgraffito polychrome decorations inside the church. It also houses an exhibition of sculptures by folk artist and sculptor Anna Ficoń. If you plan to visit the exhibition, check visiting arrangements in advance.

A Stone Age settlement is located at the Chyśkowiec field in Wieprz, on the southwestern slope of the Grojec massif. It is of significant archaeological, historical and cultural value and is legally protected as such. The municipal heritage protection programme, adopted on March 3, 2022, records this designation.

A listed chapel dating from 1886 stands on the main road. Wiesław Pawlus is also active in Wieprz as a paper-cut artist, embroiderer and storyteller.

The Góralska Way of the Cross was established in 2016. The parish history describes its annual route from the church along Kościelna, Zagórczańska and Żywiecka streets, returning to the church. Check current dates and access arrangements before your trip.

Leisure and accommodation

The enclosed and supervised active recreation facility has two volleyball courts and two boules courts. It also features a multi-purpose court for football, basketball and volleyball, a playground and a tennis court. This gives you a choice of team sports, tennis and boules alongside a playground, all in one place.

Consider which theme you want your trip to focus on before choosing accommodation.
