Łodygowice combines hiking trails with different starting points, a castle and park complex, and a manor complex with early modern history. The town also offers cultural life and the MORGI sports and recreation centre; at the municipal level, Zarzecze borders Lake Żywiec. You can plan your stay around hiking, architectural history, culture or physical activity, while distinguishing between the town of Łodygowice and other destinations in the municipality.

Two hiking trails with different routes

The red hiking trail starts in Łodygowice and leads to Międzybrodzie Bialskie and Czernichów, then via Czupel to Magurka at an elevation of 909 m. The green trail starts at the station in Łodygowice Dolne and runs via Łysy Groń to Czernichów. Czernichów is therefore a point shared by both routes; their starting points and other named stops distinguish the two trails. When choosing a route, you can use these specific place names as a guide: the red trail goes as far as Magurka, while the green one lists Łysy Groń as an intermediate point.

Castle and park complex, manor and collection

The castle and park complex is in the southeast of Łodygowice, at the intersection of Jadwigi and Podzamcze streets. The manor complex in Łodygowice also merits a visit: it is a representative, well-preserved example of an early modern manor estate. The surviving earthworks of bastions and curtain walls date from the second half of the 17th century. Bastions and curtain walls are elements of a fortification; the earthworks therefore also give the manor complex a military history dimension.

The castle building has been repurposed as a cultural institution. The regional chamber in the castle contains everyday and household items as well as agricultural equipment from old attics, cellars and barns. The architectural history and the collection thus offer different perspectives: the estate’s fortifications on the one hand, and objects from everyday and agricultural life on the other.

Physical activity and culture in town

The completed Centrum Sportu i Rekreacji “MORGI” includes a skate park, a playground, a workout area and an outdoor gym. The complex also has a cycling or skating track around it. Its different areas bring together play, training and physical activity on a circuit, offering a distinct recreation option alongside the hiking trails.

Cultural life also offers its own points of interest. The Gminny Ośrodek Kultury organises or supports numerous recurring events, including competitions, harvest festivals, “Dni Łodygowic” and “Łodygowickie Spotkania ze Sztuką”. The regional ensemble “Magurzanie” is also associated with the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury in Łodygowice. If you are planning to attend a particular event, check the dates for your travel period.

Railway station history and a destination on Lake Żywiec

Łodygowice railway station was the first station on the Bielsko–Żywiec line to open for passenger traffic. The station building was probably built in 1888. Together, these details give the station a distinct place in the town’s transport history; the building’s date of construction is given as probable.

At the municipal level, Zarzecze is another destination by the water. There, the municipality of Łodygowice has access to Lake Żywiec for a stretch of about 4.5 km. Visitors can use pedal boats, kayaks and larger hire boats in Zarzecze. The lake activities are therefore located in Zarzecze and add another way to explore the municipality alongside the hiking, cultural and recreational options described in Łodygowice.
