Żytna offers visitors several distinct points of interest: the protected oak tree “Dąb Eliasz”, a section of the cross-border “Szlak Górnej Odry” cycling route, as well as chapels, crosses and memorial sites. Nature, cycling and local history reveal different sides of the area. The specific dates, dedications and street addresses are particularly helpful for planning, as they make it possible to distinguish between the individual sites.
Natural Monument and Cycling Route
The natural monument oak tree “Dąb Eliasz” was placed under protection on 20 October 2017. The cross-border “Szlak Górnej Odry” cycling route offers a different perspective on the landscape and travel: its section in Żytna is 2,050 metres long. This length refers to the section in Żytna, not the total length of the cross-border cycling route. The oak and the cycling route thus represent different perspectives: the tree is a single natural monument, while the cycling route refers to a clearly measured section.
Chapel and Church in Budzin and Żytna
At the centre of the hamlet of Budzin, which belongs to Żytna, stands a chapel dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. It dates from 1918 and is near the intersection of Sobieskiego and Budzińska streets. The filial church of Saint John of Nepomuk is also in Żytna, on Wolności Street. It belongs to the Raszczyce parish. The chapel and church share the same dedication, but are two separate sites with different location details. If you include them in your travel plans, you can easily distinguish between them by hamlet, street and building type.
Crosses and Memorial Sites
The year 1918 links two different structures: the chapel in Budzin and a brick cross at 4 Budzińska Street in Żytna. Budzin also has a wooden cross at 23 Sobieskiego Street. Another cross, “Boża Męka”, stands on the road to Budzin and dates from 1892. The materials, addresses and dates help distinguish the crosses from one another. A monument to Auschwitz prisoners also stands on Rybnicka Street. It adds a distinct memorial site to the religious landmarks.
A report from 2015 describes an indulgence service in Budzin on a May Sunday, with Mass and a May devotion. The year dates the service; it should not be understood as a current event date.
Plan Your Stay
When choosing a destination, you can follow your interests: the cycling route offers a clearly identified section, while the chapel, church, crosses and monument can be distinguished by their respective dedications and location details. If you are looking for a holiday apartment for a stay in Żytna, first consider whether cycling, religious buildings or memorial sites will be the focus of your trip. This will help you choose Żytna based on the themes that interest you most during your stay.
