Jejkowice brings together a connection to the countryside, waterways, sacred architecture and a cycle route from Rybnik to the village. This gives you a choice of different focuses when planning your trip: you can explore the landscape and streams, take a closer look at church art or plan a cycling route. Jejkowice Centrum Park also offers a venue for cultural events, as well as a repair station.

Countryside and waterways

Jejkowice lies within the buffer zone of the “Cysterskie Kompozycje Krajobrazowe Rud Wielkich” Landscape Park. The Gzel stream and its tributary, Struga Leśna, flow through the village. The Gzel stream is about 4.5 kilometres long and flows into a body of water of the same name at the Rybnik Reservoir on the Ruda River. The buffer zone highlights Jejkowice’s connection to the surrounding landscape; the two streams give this theme a specific local perspective. The Gzel’s approximate length and its mouth provide further geographical points of reference.

Parish church and sacred art

The parish church of “Matki Boskiej Szkaplerznej i św. Piusa X” was built between 1946 and 1949. It is an eclectic basilica with an apse and a tall tower topped with battlements and pinnacles. The apse forms the architectural end of the church interior; the battlements and pinnacles give structure to the tower. The term “eclectic” refers to the combination of forms from different styles. The main altar depicts the adoration of Our Lady of the Scapular with the Child Jesus. The altar was made by J. Potempa, a member of staff at the Academy of Fine Arts. A wooden chapel with a sculpture of the pensive Christ offers a different perspective: here, the focus is on wooden construction and a single depiction of Christ. Together, the basilica and chapel offer different perspectives on sacred architecture and visual art in Jejkowice.

Cycle route and repair station

The blue cycle route No. 288 runs from Rybnik to Jejkowice and is 1.6 kilometres long. This specific distance helps you decide how to incorporate the stretch into your cycling plans. Jejkowice Centrum Park also has a publicly accessible bicycle repair station equipped with the necessary tools and a pump for bicycle tyres. Cyclists can therefore use both a designated route and a practical self-service facility in the village as points of reference.

Culture at Jejkowice Centrum Park

Various cultural events organised by the Municipality of Jejkowice take place in the park’s paved square. If you would like to plan your visit around a particular cultural event, check the dates in advance. This will help you coordinate the event schedule with your other travel interests.

You can choose from three different themes when deciding what to focus on during your visit: countryside and waterways, church architecture and sacred art, or cycling. This gives you a clear starting point for planning your stay in Jejkowice.
