Three night orienteering events were announced for the municipality of Gaszowice; a cycling project described in 2017 offers another glimpse of local activities. Nearby is Czernica, with a cultural centre in the palace. The events and cycling project related to the municipality, while the cultural centre was associated with a specific place within this wider geographical area.

Night orienteering events

The series was called “Gaszowice po ćmoku” in Polish and was announced as a series of three night orienteering events. Before the start, participants were to receive maps to help them find checkpoints. The route was to be about five kilometres long and run through the municipality of Gaszowice and its surroundings. This outlined both the map-based challenge and the geographical scope of the event: the route length was approximate, while finding the checkpoints was the orienteering element. The dates announced were 18 June, 23 July and 17 September 2026; all three dates have now passed. If you would like to include a similar event in your stay, check the latest dates before making plans.

The cycling project in the municipality

A municipal points project described in 2017 offered a cycling tour through the municipality of Gaszowice. The project combined bicycle repairs, information boards about the history of individual places and outdoor games. These three elements gave the tour different emphases: the boards drew attention to local history, the repairs had a practical connection to cycling, and the games added a playful activity. Compared with the night events, the difference was in the format: the points project led participants by bicycle through the municipality and combined several activities, while the announced events were based on a map and checkpoints.

Cultural centre in the palace in Czernica

Czernica is near the town of Gaszowice. It is a separate locality within the municipality, not the town of Gaszowice itself. The palace there houses a cultural centre run by the Stowarzyszenie Działań Lokalnych “Spichlerz”. The Neo-Gothic palace was built by the Roth family between 1880 and 1885. The centre organises cultural activities, events, performances and history picnics, and looks after the local intangible cultural heritage. Performances and history picnics are specific types of events; caring for intangible cultural heritage is a broader responsibility that extends beyond individual occasions. The historical focus also differs: the cycling project mentioned information boards about individual places, while the cultural centre organises events and cares for local intangible heritage.

Choosing accommodation based on location

Knowing the precise location can help you choose a holiday apartment. Gaszowice can refer either to the town or to the municipality; Czernica is part of the municipality but is not the town of Gaszowice. If you have one of the cultural or municipal landmarks mentioned in mind, check whether the address you want is in the town of Gaszowice or in another locality within the municipality. This way, you can choose where to stay based on the geographical area that suits your plans, rather than relying only on the shared municipal name.
