A partially reconstructed Renaissance residence, a museum in the castle tower and two cycling routes through Chudów give your stay a clear focus. If you choose the town for a trip, you can focus on castle and regional history or consider the cycling routes as a separate planning option. The routes differ in length and destinations, so you can choose according to the distance you want to cover.

Castle and museum: Renaissance architecture and archaeology

Chudów Castle is a partially reconstructed Renaissance residence built on the foundations of an earlier fortification. Its architectural history therefore spans the older fortifications through to the Renaissance. The “Zamek w Chudowie” museum is housed in a partially reconstructed tower of the castle, built by Jan Gierałtowski in the 16th century. Its archaeological exhibition complements the building’s history with artefacts: it includes reconstructed ceramic vessels and fragments of a medieval well. In the 2026 season, the museum is open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 18:00. If you have planned a museum visit, arrange your stay around these opening days and hours.

Castle grounds and landscape

The castle grounds include a nearby 18th-century granary. Together with the castle and the surrounding park, which covers about seven hectares, it is one of the surviving remnants of the former Chudów-Paniówki manor estates. The area around the castle also forms a distinct cultural and landscape ensemble of meadows, wooded areas and associated farm buildings. Here, the buildings and landscape go together; the granary and park broaden the view beyond the Renaissance castle. The castle ruins are also part of the town’s history: they are being restored and rebuilt.

Events and regional history

Since 1996, the open-air cultural events “Spotkania na Zamku w Chudowie” have been held on the castle grounds. They include reenactments, historical pageants, concerts and other programme items. If an event is the reason for your trip, check the specific dates before travelling. Another cultural venue in Chudów is Izba łod Starki, a regional heritage room in the more than 100-year-old building of the Old School. This gives you different themes to consider when planning your trip: events on the castle grounds and regional history in a historic school building.

Cycling routes through Chudów

Yellow cycle route No. 373 starts in Paniówki on National Road No. 44, runs through Chudów to Gierałtowice and is 7.5 kilometres long. It is considered an easy route suitable for beginners. Blue cycle route No. 372 runs for 21 kilometres from Paniówki to Nieborowice, passing through Chudów, Ornontowice and Knurów. You can make your choice based on distance, destination and suitability: No. 373 is the shorter route to Gierałtowice and is explicitly suitable for beginners; No. 372 is longer and ends in Nieborowice. Chudów lies on both routes, while their different lengths and destinations offer different options for a cycling trip.
