Głuszyca lies in the Upper Bystrzyca Valley at an elevation of 420 to 936 metres above sea level and is surrounded by the Owl, Stone and Wałbrzych Mountains. There are several options to choose from when planning your trip: cycling, a specific hiking route, cultural history and leisure activities.
Cycling and getting there
Strefa MTB Głuszyca comprises 150 kilometres of cycling routes across six trails. These connect to Czech and Polish MTB Sudety trails. This means the local cycling options can also be considered in the context of routes across the national borders. Recurring cycling competitions such as the Sudety MTB Challenge and the Trek Extreme MTB Challenge also take place in Głuszyca. Check the latest event dates separately if a competition is part of your travel plans.
The train is also a practical option for getting there and back: trains operated by Koleje Dolnośląskie stop at Głuszyca station on the Wrocław Główny–Głuszyca and Wałbrzych Miasto–Kudowa-Zdrój routes. As timetables may change, it is advisable to check the connection for your travel dates.
A named hiking route
The yellow hiking trail “Głuszyca PKP – Schronisko PTTK Andrzejówka – Golińsk Przejście graniczne” runs from Głuszyca via Grzmiąca, Zamek Rogowiec, Skalna Brama, Schronisko PTTK Andrzejówka, Waligóra and Sokołowsko. The sequence of places gives a concrete impression of the route. Routes may change; check the trail locally before setting out.
Cultural history across several periods
The factory owner's palace in Park Jordanowski dates from 1894 and was entered in the register of historic monuments in 1955. Another historic landmark is the observation tower at the church of pw. Najświętszej Maryi Panny Królowej Polski. It was built in the early 19th century next to a Protestant church dating from 1741. Together, these dates give Głuszyca's cultural history several points of reference, from the 18th century to the palace's later listing.
Park and swimming pools
Park Jordanowski is a recreation area with a playground and a skate park. If you are planning to visit the park specifically for one of these amenities, check in advance whether it is currently available. The municipal outdoor swimming pool has three pools—a large pool, a medium-sized pool and a paddling pool—as well as a volleyball court. The “Delfinek” indoor swimming pool is located at Szkoła Podstawowa nr 3 on ul. Kolejowa and has a dry sauna and a whirlpool. Check the current availability of both pools before planning a swim.
Plan your stay
The difference between the cycling and hiking options gives you a concrete basis for choosing the focus of your trip: Strefa MTB Głuszyca comprises six routes in a 150-kilometre network, while the hiking option described here is a yellow trail with a named sequence of places. If you are looking for a hotel in Głuszyca, you can use this as a starting point and first decide whether to focus on several cycling routes or this particular hiking trail.
