In Pobiedna, traces of railway history meet a castle with a long past and hiking trails leading from the village in different directions. The railway station is a notable starting point: the red hiking trail begins at Teatr Klinika Lalek, and a walk from there to the theater also starts here. This offers different ways to explore the area—local history at specific sites, or views of the Góry Izerskie in the open countryside.

Hiking trails in different directions

The red hiking trail begins at the railway station in Pobiedna, by Teatr Klinika Lalek, and leads to the health resort of Czerniawa-Zdrój. The green hiking trail runs through the center and continues toward the settlement of Gierałtówek. The two trails meet near the central PKS bus stop. This gives you a clear landmark in the village and also makes the difference between the routes clear: Czerniawa-Zdrój is the destination of the red trail, while the green trail continues toward Gierałtówek. Check the trail markings locally before setting out.

Another hiking trail leads from Pobiedna into open countryside. From there, views of the Góry Izerskie are possible; visibility and views depend on conditions and the route you choose. This means a stay can offer two different perspectives: historic sites in the center and views of the countryside beyond the village. These views depend on the trail and are not guaranteed along every section.

Railway history and theater

Teatr Klinika Lalek is located in a former railway station that once served Pobiedna. Props used in the street theater’s performances can be seen in place of the platforms. The site thus brings together the former railway connection and theatrical work. Other visible remnants of Pobiedna’s former railway facilities include the station building and remains of the platforms.

The station therefore connects several local themes: it is the starting point of the red hiking trail, a landmark on a walk to the theater and part of the visible railway history of the village. If you would like to visit Teatr Klinika Lalek, check visiting arrangements directly with the theater in advance.

Castle, historic park and local history

Adolf Traugott von Gersdorf had Pobiedna Castle built in 1767 in place of an older manor house dating from 1660. The von Gersdorf family castle is located close to the village center. The castle park is among the historic sites entered in the register of monuments of the voivodeship. The castle and park provide a distinct focus for local history, while the information board about Pobiedna’s history stands in Plac Wolności.

Historic timber-framed houses can also be seen in Pobiedna. A local hiking route also leads to the ruins of the Protestant church and to historic epitaphs and gravestones in the local cemetery. The ruins and grave markers offer different ways to explore the village’s history: the remains of a church building on the one hand, and recorded names and memorials in the cemetery on the other. Together with the information board, castle and park, they provide several specific points of interest for exploring the area’s cultural history.

The Mon Plaisir observation tower near Gierałtówek

Another historic site is in Gierałtówek: in 1803–1804, Adolf Traugott von Gersdorf had the Mon Plaisir observation tower built on a hill 535 meters high. In the 19th century, the tower was also called the Kaiser-Wilhelm Tower. It is about 1.5 kilometers from the castle in Pobiedna. This is an approximate distance, not a walking time. Check whether the tower is accessible before visiting.
