Bad Flinsberg combines spa architecture with trails and viewpoints in the Jizera Mountains. The Dom Zdrojowy is a useful point of reference: its history and design give the town a cultural character, and several routes start there. There are also viewpoints, a nature trail through the forest and a bread museum with workshops. You can shape your stay around spa history, hiking, mountain biking or scenic views.

Spa Architecture and Local History

The Dom Zdrojowy in Świeradów-Zdrój was built in 1899 to a design by the architect Grosser. The Hala Spacerowa connects the building’s two sections and is 80 metres long. The year it was built, its architect and the connecting hall make the architecture tangible: alongside the history of the spa town, a distinctive architectural feature is also in focus.

The exhibition at the Muzeum Górnictwa Uzdrowiskowego, also known as the Muzeum Zdrojowe, offers another perspective. It presents the historical use of the springs and the history of the spa town. Together, these cover two themes: the origins of the spa building and the importance of the springs to local history.

Routes with Different Profiles

The Główny Szlak Sudecki im. M. Orłowicza starts at the Dom Zdrojowy. Route No. 22, “Dookoła Kwisy”, also starts there and runs along forest paths and through the streets of Świeradów-Zdrój. Route No. 21 also begins and ends at the Dom Zdrojowy. It is a short, challenging MTB trail for difficult terrain. However, sharing a starting point does not make these routes one and the same: their descriptions differ significantly in terms of route and activity.

For an easy, scenic outing, the Zajęcznik trail is a specific option. It is considered suitable for families with children and takes about an hour and a half there and back. The trail from Świeradów-Zdrój to Stóg Izerski offers different distance and elevation details: the route is listed as taking about two and a half hours, with an elevation gain of 569 metres; Stóg Izerski is at an altitude of 1,105 metres. The approximate durations and stated elevation gain help you compare these outings by their respective time and elevation profiles. Trail conditions can change; check them before setting out.

Views and Outdoor Discoveries

The viewpoints offer different perspectives. From the Zajęcznik viewpoint, you can see Świeradów-Zdrój and the Kwisa Valley. The Świętojanki viewpoint is near a group of granite-gneiss rocks of the same name on the southwestern slope of Sępia Góra; from there, the panorama extends across the town and Grzbiet Wysoki. The Sky Walk rises above Świeradów-Zdrój in the Jizera Mountains and reaches a height of 62 metres. Together, they offer different perspectives: a view of the valley and town, a panorama from a mountainside and the height of the Sky Walk.

The interactive ZAJĘCZNIK nature trail through the forest has nine stops or information boards. It adds a nature-focused element to the viewpoints. If you would like to learn about a local activity as well as enjoy the scenery, the Czarci Młyn has a bread museum where visitors can learn about the historical bread-making process in workshops.

A Themed Trail with Its Own Stops

The Czarci Młyn is also a stop on the “Śladami Izerskich Tajemnic” tourist trail, which runs through the Jizera Mountains. In Świeradów-Zdrój, stone blocks with large bas-reliefs and mysterious pictograms to copy are located at 22 tourist attractions. The bread museum is one of the stops, with its own focus: workshops on historical bread production.
