From Czubatka, a viewpoint in Klucze located 382 metres above sea level, the view stretches across the Błędowska Desert. The town can be explored through three different interests: landscape, routes on foot or by bike, and architectural history.
Czubatka and the Desert Landscape
The Błędowska Desert stretches east to Klucze and is divided by the valley of the Biała Przemsza. From Czubatka, you can see both its southern and northern parts; the northern section on the Chechło side is used for military purposes. The viewpoint can be reached on foot or by car via Rudnicka, Podgórna and Górna streets. Check the local signage before setting off, as road details and restrictions may change.
The yellow hiking trail leads from the viewpoint to the Błędowska Desert and its visitor facilities, including viewing platforms, shelters and educational trails. The Róża Wiatrów is also nearby, in the southern part of the desert. It can be reached via the signposted county road No. 1095 K (Klucze–Bolesław). The viewpoint and this other destination thus offer different perspectives on the landscape.
Hiking and Cycling Routes in Klucze
The Żółty Szlak Pustynny (Yellow Desert Trail) passes over the 382-metre-high Czubatka viewpoint hill and then through the built-up area of Klucze. Its route therefore includes both views of the landscape and a section through the town. The blue Przylaszczkowy cycling route offers a different way to explore the area: this 41-kilometre circular route starts and ends in Klucze.
Velo Pustynia is a completed hiking and cycling route that circles the Błędowska Desert. Czubatka is one of the connected viewpoints, offering panoramic views of the desert. The routes differ in their described layout: the Przylaszczkowy cycling route has a stated length and starts and ends in Klucze, while Velo Pustynia is described as a circular route around the desert. Check the local signage before setting out, as route conditions may change.
Architectural History in the Centre and Klucze-Osada
The Dietl Palace stands in the centre of Klucze. This eclectic building dates from the early 20th century and was constructed in the Historicist style. It draws on the Italian Neo-Renaissance and incorporates elements of Swiss spa architecture. Surrounded by the remains of a former park, the building brings together several architectural influences rather than representing just one style.
Klucze-Osada has its own architectural highlights: buildings dating from the 19th century, built when the paper mill was established and listed as points of interest along the route. Together with the palace in the town centre, these offer two distinct ways to explore the architectural history of Klucze: a prominent building in the centre and older structures associated with the paper mill.
