Łabowa combines local history with opportunities for cycling, hiking, and skiing. The Jewish cemetery and the former Greek Catholic church give the village a historical focus. At the same time, a cycling route, a nature trail, and blue hiking and ski routes start in Łabowa. When planning, it is worth looking at their different routes: one trail returns to its starting point, another leads to Życzanów, and others head toward Hala Łabowska.

Cemetery and church building

The Jewish cemetery in Łabowa was established in the 19th century. Its best-preserved central section contains 15 rows of aligned tombstones, with a total of 154 matzevot; among them are the tombstones of two rabbis in rows 9 and 13. The cemetery as a whole has about 250 tombstones. These two figures refer to different scales: the central section and the approximate total number. The number of preserved tombstones may change.

Łabowa is also home to a Catholic cemetery and an old Lemko Greek Catholic parish cemetery. Together with the Jewish cemetery, these are three different burial sites. Another historical landmark is the former masonry Greek Catholic Church of the Protection of the Mother of God. It dates from 1784 and was funded by Izabela Lubomirska.

Comparing cycling and hiking routes

A 28 km cycling route runs from Łabowa via Uhryń, Łabowska Hala, and Łabowiec, and back to Łabowa. It therefore has the same starting and ending point; this circular route is a different planning feature from a trail with a second destination.

The Adam Stadnicki Nature Trail runs from Łabowa to Życzanów and is 28.9 km long. Its stated duration is 10 hours 45 minutes. Allow for this stated time as a substantial block in your day’s itinerary.

Blue hiking and ski routes also start in Łabowa. They climb the Łabowiec Valley and continue to the mountain shelter on Hala Łabowska. Those interested in hiking or skiing to this destination can follow the blue markings and the course of the valley. Check local conditions before setting out.

The cycling route and nature trail are similar in length at 28 and 28.9 km, but represent different types of route: the cycling route returns to Łabowa, while the nature trail leads to Życzanów and has a stated duration. Comparing the route type and time commitment therefore tells you more than distance alone.

Choose accommodation to suit your travel plans

When searching for a hotel in Labowa, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on: exploring the village’s history, choosing a cycling loop that returns to its starting point, or planning a hiking day with a named destination. The different route types and the stated duration offer different planning considerations.
