If you are considering Prądocin as a travel destination, you can focus on three different themes: the red Szlak Wolnościowy, the bathing area at Lake Jezioro Jezuickie, and the memorial to Franciszek Janiszewski. This gives you a choice of distinct highlights: a clearly measured route, the lake with its highly indented shoreline, and a historic place of remembrance.
The Szlak Wolnościowy: 27 kilometres in two sections
The red Szlak Wolnościowy runs for a total of 27 km through the Puszcza Bydgoska, from Plac Kościeleckich in Bydgoszcz via Prądocin to Nowa Wieś Wielka. The route is divided into 20 km from Bydgoszcz to Prądocin and a further 7 km from Prądocin to Nowa Wieś Wielka. The first section is therefore 13 km longer and almost three times as long as the second. This breakdown helps you plan the route as two sections of different lengths rather than considering only the total distance. Prądocin is the shared reference point for both sections. Before setting out, it is worth checking the route's current waymarking and condition.
Jezioro Jezuickie and the bathing area
Jezioro Jezuickie is in the municipality of Nowa Wieś Wielka. It covers an area of 14.7 km², is up to 10 m deep, and has a highly indented shoreline. These characteristics describe different aspects of the lake: its area, maximum depth, and shoreline shape. The measurements apply to the lake as a whole; Prądocin is one of the bathing areas on this lake. If you are planning a day of swimming, check the current conditions beforehand. A highly indented shoreline describes a varied course with inlets and projections, rather than an evenly straight edge all around the lake.
Memorial and historical context
The memorial in Prądocin commemorates Franciszek Janiszewski, a local teacher and insurgent in the Greater Poland Uprising. He was murdered at this site on 29 September 1939. A memorial was unveiled in his honour in May 1988. The two dates mark different events: the historical event and the later erection of the memorial. After exhumation, Janiszewski's remains were buried in the cemetery in Lisewo Kościelne. The memorial and the burial place are therefore two geographically separate points of reference in this story.
Choose your stay based on your interests
These themes offer different perspectives: the route lengths help you choose a section based on distance; the lake's area, depth, and shoreline shape describe it as a whole, and Prądocin is one of its bathing areas. The memorial connects the site of the murder with the later burial in Lisewo Kościelne.
