Maksymilianowo can be explored using specific route descriptions and clearly identified places of remembrance: a black hiking trail starts in the village, a red hiking trail has a junction here, and a cycling route of approximately 37 km also passes through. There are also monuments and a horse chestnut designated as a natural monument. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can choose your base according to the focus of your stay: hiking, cycling or local history.

Plan hiking trails and cycling routes by the places along the way

The black “Białego węgla” hiking trail starts in Maksymilianowo and leads via Samociążek to Koronowo. The route lists a starting point, an intermediate location and a destination. If you include the route in your plans, you can use these places as reference points and follow the route from beginning to end.

Maksymilianowo is also a junction on the red hiking trail of the Klubu Turystów Pieszych “Talk”. It runs via Bydgoszcz Fordon, Osielsko, Bydgoszcz Opławiec and Gościeradz. Unlike the black trail, which names Koronowo as a specific destination, this route identifies Maksymilianowo as a junction. The two sequences of places therefore provide different points of reference when choosing a hike.

For cycling, the approximately 37 km “Przyjazna – Osielsko” route is another option for planning your trip. It was created by the N-Bike Academy team and runs from Niemcz via Osielsko, Jarużyn, Jastrzębie, Żołędowo, Bożenkowo and Maksymilianowo, before returning to Niemcz. Its approximate length and the listed places help you identify it as a circular route. For a specific ride, it is advisable to check the current route in advance.

Taken together, the hiking and cycling routes offer different ways to plan a stay: the hiking trails focus on connections between places and a junction, while the cycling route also has an approximate total length.

Memorial plaque, chapel and railway station

A precisely dated reference to local history is the memorial plaque on a building on Główna Street. From 27 to 30 January 1945, during preparations for the breakthrough of the Pomeranian Wall, the command post of the Polish Army commander, Major General Stanisław Popławski, was located in Maksymilianowo. The plaque commemorates these events. This historical connection is therefore tied to a specific period and place in Maksymilianowo.

The chapel on Główna Street is also listed in the municipality’s register of monuments. Another architectural landmark is Maksymilianowo railway station at 13 Dworcowa Street: the building dates from the 1920s and is listed in the Osielsko Municipality register of monuments. These provide different points of connection to local history: the remembrance of a historical event, a chapel and a railway station from the early 20th century.

Railway lines and a natural monument

Two railway lines important for freight transport intersect in Maksymilianowo: line 201 from Nowa WieĹ› Wielka to Gdynia Port and line 131 from ChorzĂłw Batory to Tczew. They add another perspective on the transport connections associated with Maksymilianowo to the hiking and cycling routes described above.

A clearly located natural feature stands by the roadside at the intersection of Szkolna Street and Koronowska Street: a horse chestnut designated as a natural monument. Its trunk circumference is 360 cm at breast height. A stay in Maksymilianowo can therefore include hiking and cycling routes as well as historical and natural landmarks.
