Four cycling routes, each marked in a different color, lead through Wronki. The Gothic parish church of St. Catherine, organized river activities and the Muzeum Ziemi Wronieckiej add architectural and museum history to these active pursuits. Water, routes and culture can therefore each provide a different focus for your stay.

Water and routes along the Warta

Since the end of 2018, locals and tourists have been able to walk along the riverside promenade beside the Warta. On the opposite bank is a municipal beach, which is open during the summer season. A footbridge and cycle bridge over the Warta was also built in Wronki at the end of 2014.

Organized kayaking tours and river trips are offered on the Warta. These include trips on a galar, a flat-bottomed boat modeled on historic merchant vessels. If you are planning a tour, check current operators and dates in advance.

Cycling and long-distance hiking

The four cycling routes that lead through Wronki are marked in different colors. The E-11 long-distance hiking trail also passes through the town and is partly part of the European long-distance hiking trail E-11. This gives you a choice between cycling and long-distance hiking: there are four marked cycling routes, while the E-11 is classified as a long-distance hiking trail. Check the route of the relevant trail for a specific stage.

Museum and local history

The Muzeum Ziemi Wronieckiej is located in the town center, in a granary dating from the mid-19th century. The museum hosts temporary exhibitions, lectures, meetings and activities for adults and children. These different formats offer a range of ways for people interested in culture and local history to engage.

The museum also offers themed museum sessions and provides genealogical information. If you are planning a museum session or genealogical assistance, confirm availability directly with the museum. The themed museum sessions focus on specific subjects, while genealogical information focuses on family history; the offerings therefore differ in their subject matter.

Gothic parish church of St. Catherine

The Gothic parish church of St. Catherine dates from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries and was originally designed as a hall church. In the 17th century, the side aisles were made lower. This sequence distinguishes the original spatial design from a later alteration to the church building. In a hall church, the nave and side aisles are at approximately the same height; the term refers to this unified, hall-like spatial effect.

Gothic features include brick and stone masonry, Gothic tracery, pointed-arch window heads, buttresses and a rib vault. Tracery and window heads describe decorative features; buttresses and rib vaulting add structural details. Together, these elements give a more precise picture of the church’s Gothic architecture.
